Hi all

Does anyone know of any downloadable links anywhere out there for elements of the OT?

I happened to come across one for the original Sebastian Shaw footage (not sure if its still on this site anywhere) but what I'm looking specifically for is the original Lapti Nek footage, arrival at Mos Eisley, Endor firewords (Jedi) and Cloud City footage (as clean as possible, ie taken from the Laserdisc etc).

Any ideas where a budding editor might find such material?

Well, failing the laserdisc, I'm going to suggest the unthinkable: the DVD. You may not get the whole thing, but pieces of original footage can be found there. There is a fair amount of unaltered footage in the films themselves. There's also the supplemental material. Empire of Dreams, for example, shows the first entrance shot to Mos Eisley and the Sebastian Shaw ghost footage. I'd rip that and splice it in.

I should recommend 1995 THX Laserdiscs, because you can't find any of the footage he's looking for on the DVD. EOD still contains a CUT version of the original entrance shot and whe only get to see Sebastian Shaw for just 3 seconds, and the Original/DVD footage is much longer. If you are looking for a PAL laserdisc capture I recommend Grinder or Moth3r releases, if you need NTSC I recommend TR47 (Cowclops) or DVD Gonzo releases, or you capture a laserdisc yourself

I also noticed at the 2004 SE of ESB that their is still one shot of the FAlcon that still has the original matte painting! Just before the Falcon is going to takeoff Cloud City, their is a wide shot of Cloud City with the original matte painting.
