I think it could be interesting, for some reasons: a TV show hasn't the same objectives of a movie, just cause of the rythme, the story (one big story or/and many secondary plots), the length (episode and season)...
And also cause it would be not focused on the main movie characters. I believe it's one of the bad points in the PT, tell a story that is too close to the OT characters which have became really cult and famous with the time. Pretty hard to "touch" 'em now... This show could tell stories about new characters, giving a lot of possibilities IMO.

So, I'd like to see what could be done in this!

Those are my feelings as well. I say give it a chance. It's really no big deal. Just set back, enjoy it for what it is, and get on with things.
