On the other hand, there is already nothing but crap on TV. One more show won't hurt.

No, Star Wars is too big for T.V, it just seems to me like another excuse to milk the Star Wars cash cow, enough people feel the SE and The Prequels have already ruined Star Wars, and I fear the TV series will fail, so do we need another nail in the coffin maybe the final one, for this once proud franchise

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I think it could be interesting, for some reasons: a TV show hasn't the same objectives of a movie, just cause of the rythme, the story (one big story or/and many secondary plots), the length (episode and season)...
And also cause it would be not focused on the main movie characters. I believe it's one of the bad points in the PT, tell a story that is too close to the OT characters which have became really cult and famous with the time. Pretty hard to "touch" 'em now... This show could tell stories about new characters, giving a lot of possibilities IMO.

So, I'd like to see what could be done in this!

Those are my feelings as well. I say give it a chance. It's really no big deal. Just set back, enjoy it for what it is, and get on with things.

AWK, that's about the only intelligent post of yours I've ever seen. Well done.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Well, that's my general outlook on everything Star Wars-related. From the way I look at it, the PT is entertaining, the OT is entertaining, and the EU is entertaining. I mean, the point in all of it is to have fun out of what you are given, and that's what I try to do. That's why I look forward to the TV series. Yeah, there's a good chance it'll suck. But it's entertainment. And I'm sure that, no matter the quality, a lot of people will have put a lot of hard hours into the thing by the time we see the finished product. So, I think everyone should at least give it a chance. If only just out of respect for its creators.

I mean, look at ROTS. Hayden and Natalie's acting sucked. Lucas's directing and writing sucked. The continuity was screwed. The entire picture overall sucked. But a LOT of hard work was put into it by a LOT of people (as evidenced in the Within a Minute documentary). Hayden and Natalie believed in themselves, and tried hard. There a lot of SFX guys behind it all, just so many people. These people obviously worked hard and believed in what they were doing. So I say, at least give it a chance for that reason.

The whole reason I watch Star Wars is for the "Oh cool!" thought-provoking type moments. And I'm sure that, even if the series is a failure, I'll get something out of it. As Saun Dann says: "Just set down and enjoy it."

What the heck is he gonna make it about?

The idea of the bounty hunters angle with Boba growing up just doesn't cut it for me. It'll be "Boba Bebop"
There's good in the Original Trilogy, and it's worth fighting for.

The hunt down of the last Jedi?

The early childhood years of young Luke, Fixer, and Biggs?

The rise of the Resistence? Well, maybe that. Rmember Lucas wants to write these himself. And Direct the first season.

Just slapping the name Star Wars on a product doesn't necesarrily make it good, nor desirable. If the TV series happens, I know I will watch it. But that doesn't mean I will automatically enjoy it either. I can go aboutthe rest of my life if the tv series never happened at all too. There comes a time whne you gotta ease back and hang up the gloves. The LFL license is just out of control these days and I suspect that the tv series is another outlet for yet more toys to ram down the throats of a population of easy marks.

And don't forget, yet more Clone Wars animated series, but in CG.

My faith with Lucas and co has been shattered years ago with The Phantom Menace, he was untouchable with me til then and thought he could do no wrong.

I still have faith in him. He has yet to seriously let me down. He's upset me a few times, but never outright let me down. I still have high hopes for the series.

It just that I thought the man was god, and couldnt do no wrong even with some of "ideas" that i wasnt keen on for the 97 SE, but after seeing TPM my opinion and my admiration for him changed over the years, he has restored a bit of faith in my eyes with Revenge of the Sith, but he still does and did things that have let me down and prevent me from gushing and having total faith in him like i would have done in 80s and early 90s

I hope that with the TV series, he actually does go for that "grittier, more character oriented" feel, like McCallum mentioned.

That's impossible. It'll be the TV show with the most special effects ever, that's all. Only the special effects will be even worse than those in the prequels.

Rick McCallum is the Rick Berman of Star Wars.

So, will Star Wars find its Manny Coto in time? Any suggestions for who that might be? (For those not in the know, Manny Coto was the producer who essentially took over Star Trek during the last season of Enterprise. The fan consensus seems to be that Coto's season of Enterprise was far superior to anything that Berman had produced in years, delivering on the promise of a prequel, bringing in proven Trek lit authors, and respecting the fans; but it was too little, too late, and the show was cancelled.)

And I voted yes, 'cuz Star Wars has translated well enough to novels, RPG sourcebooks and supplements, limited comic series, monthly comic series, first person shooters, radio dramas (!!!), etc. Giving it a go in the TV realm won't hurt anything, and could conceivably help. (I'm assuming the question meant, "Should Lucas greenlight, fund, and/or produce," not "Should Lucas write and direct.")
