So I was thinking about getting a new computer and--being a moron--I need all the help I can get. I'll mostly be using it for video editing, video viewing (preservation projects!!!), audio whatever, a little graphics I guess--but nothing professional (or else I'd get that bigass expensive AMD processor for like 1.5 grand) I'm actually not too much interested in games, but I do want to keep my options open.

Here's what I've put together so far:

---------------------------------------------
Case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811133154 - 150 (what's it mean by "power supply - no" under specs? I know it doesn't mean included, cause that's the one above it)

Harddrive - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144160 - 150

Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813186055 - 200

Videocard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814195003 - 650

Soundcard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102191 - 400

Power Supply - (I'm completely lost here)

Processor - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103573 - 1400

Cooling - (need something better than what's on newegg) - straight from "kollance" website

Drive - I'm just not gonna go there yet, I'm not sure if I should get two for burning, or just get one really good one and have image files on the comp, dual layer of course, litescribe for a certain "90s retro" dvd look sometimes...God I don't know...

------------------------------------------
Total (excluding powersupply and cooling and drives)
3000

In terms of cash, I think the conditions I'd even attempt to do this under are ideally around 4000 dollars. I definitely need to do a new computer cause all I have is a Dell, so not a lot of room for updates.

Everything should be compatible with everything from what I've checked, but if you want to double check for me that'd be great. I'm also not sure if any one part is not up to speed with another part, thereby making the faster part a sort of waste of money. But maybe not, I don't know. I'm sure I'll be upgrading for a few years, but with what I got here I probably won't be upgrading for awhile. If I'm missing any computer part just let me know. Remember I'm an idiot.

Anyway I'm up for critique in any way I'm being stupid - technically, economically, anything--I just wanna never have to upgrade for a few years.

Oh, and if you're not familiar with newegg, you should get aquainted, or at let me know why newegg is actually stupid and I just don't realize there's an even better website out there. Thanks.
