focuspuller, I just got your email with these covers, they look great! I love the first one with the old production still of Deckard. Someone used this same photo a while back to make a fake 'Criterion Collection' cover for one of the laserdiscs rips, but it wasn't as polished as this.

Great work!

DigitalFreakNYC, you have done a great thing. I'm watching the dvd now, and the pic quality is superb!
Great job all around, and thanks for sharing the goodies. This presentation well certainly hold us over,
until such time as the film is released officially in hd quality.

This disc itself is worth the 40 odd buck investment in a dual layered burner.

Take care,

Fantastic!

That's what I want to hear. If anyone has any problems, please let me know.

For those who have the equipment, the sound is also light years better than the other release.

I don't think it can be removed.

FYI:
I've been working on logo removal with Adobe After Effects. That logo can be removed, and I am going to apply the removal to this great presentation of the film. It’s a kind of blending of the background / foreground images that hides the logo from the naked eye.

Since there's no way that A) I'll ever get this downloaded, and B) that I'll be able to remove that logo if I did - would it be possible for you to send me a copy of yours with the logo removed for the price of a DL and a SL disc?

Actually, I should ask this first: Will your copy be identical to the original minus the logo, or will it just be the movie by itself, with no menus or extras or anything?

Those are great looking covers. I'd be interested in them.

I have that already on VHS. It's not worth torrenting.

Can't you just reconnect that drive and direct that torrent to look into that file? Seems pretty simple.

That doesn't make any sense. It should check the contents of the folder (if you directed it correctly) before downloading.

Anybody else having probs playing this on a standalone player?

Ive tried 3. It keeps wanting to load but never does on my Momitsu V880-DX. It loads the opening welcome on my JVC SA-600 then instead of going to the menu, it partally loads a green frame for theatrical previews and is frozen with the music from the menu playing. It does the same on my Phillips 642, but when I press stop and play again, it loads the menu. Damn that player will play almost anything.

Unfortunately it's my Monitsu that's my main player and upconverts to 1080i

My alternative is to run it through Shrink, I guess.

Have you tried DL-R in both the players?

My Philips DVP642 plays the DL-R way smoother then the +R

Hmm, i've tried it on my Phillips DVP642, and it plays back with no issues whatsoever.
I'm using VERBATIM +R DL media, and the Phillips seems to have no issue with them.

Sounds like it could be a burn problem, unless you have issues with other DL
discs you have burned.

I used DVD+R DL. Maybe it's the speed. I burned at 4x even though the disc is rated at 8x. They are Verbatims. Not too many places carry the DVD-R DLs. But it works fine once I used Shrink with everything maxed out and deep analysis. So at least I have that to watch and enjoy on my Momitsu at 1080 on my 56" DLP.

Looks awesome.

Also, try burning it as a DVD-ROM as opposed to a regular DVD. Some say that helps.

This is what I did with a Verbatim +R DL. However, to do this, you have to know how to set the 'book type' on your CD burner. If you are interested in making good, compatible discs nearly all the time with your hardware, I recommend you go here:

http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=61

Find the forum corresponding to your hardware and start reading, a general FAQ is a good place to start. You'd be amazed the extra features you can squeeze out of what you already have with just a firmware upgrade.

But, as DFNYC said, one of the main things that can help increase compatibility with set-top players is to change the booktype of a disc to DVD-ROM as opposed to DVD+/-R, +/-RW, +/-R DL, etc. Not all drives are capable of doing this, but if it's possible you will find a way to do in that forum.

DVD Decrypter is capable of changing the booktype setting on a lot of drives. Go under Tools->Drive->Change Book Type. This isn't exactly dangerous, but you should know what you're doing. Feel free to PM me if anyone needs help.

Hello all! I've just joined the forums!

First of all i would like to thank digitalfreaknyc for his amazing effort on these discs. You really have put Waner Brothers to shame. Thanks to you i'm curtently downloading using bit torrent. Just a couple of points.

1) Is there any chance at all that you can redo the first disc in PAL for us guys over in the UK? It's just that because you have a HD print i would love to take advantage of every line of resolution possible.

2) Could i ask why you decided to put a documentry on the first disc instead of the second? It's just that if you put the doc on the 2nd disc then you would have space on the first disc for the movie at a higher bit rate, making it look even better.

Please please don't take my comments the wrong way, i truly think you've done an amazing job

Thanks

R--

Thanks for the compliments.

The documentary wouldn't fit on the second disc along with the other documentary. In order to fit all the extras on there, i had to put them onto the two discs. Secondly, the program that I used to make the MPEG version of the film has a set rate that only used about half of the second layer. Currently there is no way to use up any more space with that program. So I figured I'd push the other documentary to the first disc. Trust me, quality is VERY important to me as well but I figured, at this point it's just a placeholder until WB releases an official version and the documentaries are excellent as is the film at this point.

Mentor...

There is NO comparison. I'm not kidding you. It's night and day.

UPDATE

I burned another disc at 2.4x which is the slowest speed my burner burns at and instead of using Nero Express used Nero Burning Rom and set it for DVD-ROM. It burned fine, and it plays excellently. So now I have an uncompressed copy. Anybody else want to borrow it from me can get a shrunk version, cus DVD DL is still too expensive to just pass out. Those documentaries are great, considering I've never seen a documentary on Blade Runner in the first place.
