I went through the special features again on my own, and I finally found the quote you're talking about, greencapt. It's in the "Future History: The Story of Earth That Was" documentary. It has Joss talking about how he read this book about the Civil War... "and it made me think of the Millenium Falcon... because a lot of things make me think of the Millenium Falcon." And then it cuts away to a shot on set while filming, and, for reasons I can't quite figure out, one of the crew shouts to an area offscreen and says, "You think we should send a picture of that to George Lucas?" and people laugh.

Damn- and I had hoped I was going crazy!

Glad you found it! Be interesting to know just what they were talking about though.

I think I'm going to try to show 'Serenity' to a non-Firefly, non-Serenity fan/newbie tonight. He should dig it I hope.

joss whedon is overrated

I actually used to agree with that battlewars. I *liked* the Buffy series but was far from ga-ga about it and would probably not buy the series on DVD. Angel, as a series, I could care less about. I thought 'Alien 4' was pure ass and that more than anything kept me from following anything Joss had done since.... until.... I actually had completely missed even hearing about 'Firefly' when it was on TV for its brief stint. But much like I did with the new BSG series on Sci-Fi, I gave the series a look on DVD... and got hooked! I actually think that Whedon's fans tend to over-rate him to the degree that George Lucas' fans do but the difference being Joss doesn't seem to buy into the hype. Maybe he's a great actor or something but I honestly believe him when he does interviews- believe that he's a geek like us and found a way (as many of us would like to) towork that geekness into a career doing the things we love.

Lucas on the other hand went all Howard Hughes on us and fully buys into, apparently, his own bullshit.
