That IS Thomas the Train.

Or, at least, it is the show where TTT first appeared before branching out by itself.

I always saw the Shining Time Station episodes with Ringo. My first introduction to The Beatles.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I have fond memories of watching that show when I was young. And to think, George Carlin was on a kid's show! HA! How ironic!

Does this have anything to to with The Shining.

I FORGOT ABOUT BARNEY. UHG...

NOT ONLY DO I HAVE TO WATCH THEM IN THE MORNING, BUT MY KIDS HAVE THEM ALL ON VHS. THEY JUST HAVE TO WATCH THEM ALL OF THE TIME. I GET A NICE LITTLE BREAK WHEN THEY PUT IN THOMAS THE TRAIN, OR THEY DECIDE THAT THEY WANT TO WATCH SESAME STREET AND MR. ROGERS.

I NEED A VACATION.

Thomas the Train is seriously some good stuff. Especially the ones narrated by George Carlin and Alec Baldwin.

I DON'T MIND THOMAS THE TRAIN. THE ONLY TIME IT BUGS ME IS WHEN HARRISON HAS TO WATCH THE DVD OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Thomas the TRAIN??

Who the hell is Thomas the TRAIN??

I believe you are referring to Thomas the Tank Engine - Another British classic bites the American dust. Please don't tell me Ringo Starr's fine narration has been redubbed too...

I watched the true Thomas and had all the books when I was a kid back in the 80s, and that Thomas movie with Alec Baldwin was an abomination. Magic f**king railway?! Stop messing with the classics people!!
Why do you guys have to change everything? Why did you have to change the name of the first Potter book to 'Sorcerer's stone?' Can't you just take stuff as it is?

Is he still called the Fat Controller or is that too un-PC? SHEESH!!

War does not make one great.

^^That's it man you tell 'em..Thomas the Tank Engine!!!!!! Jesus, why change it to train?? I mean, I know the English language can be quite hard for some, but come on, you must know what a Tank Engine is?!?!

And I believe that it is no longer the FAT controller but just the Controller.

Although my son did recieve the whole collection of Thomas books for his first birthday the other month and that had the Fat Controller in it

Though Alec Baldwin is easily hate-able, have no fear my UK friends... as far as *I* know it remained 'Thomas the Tank Engine' here in the states as well.

On the other hand the 'Philosopher's Stone' change pisses me the hell off too! Unknown author having nothing to do with it, it was just a damned stupid change. Then again, knowing a fair share of younger folk here, I fear A) that they wouldn't know what the hell the 'philosopher's stone' was historically and B) They would probably never buy or read a book that had anything to do with philosophy. Hell most people here in the States probably can't even *pronounce* philosopher!

Philosopher's Stone is a term that dates back to the middle ages. It's not like it's something Rowling pulled out of her proverbial butt. Heck, it's the entire point of Full Metal Alchemist.

As someone whose youngest son is a hardcore Thomas the Tank Engine addict, let me set the record straight:
Ringo was the first narrator. It coincided with his role as the Conductor on PBS' Shining Time Station. He was replaced by George Carlin (more hateable than Alec Baldwin), who was followed by Alec Baldwin and then some guy named Michael Brandon.
The Fat Controller was referred to as Sir Topham Hatt. If you can get your hands on the Thomas the Tank Engine: The Early Years DVD box set, Ringo's narration still refers to him as the Fat Controller. Personally, I thought the Ringo years were the best.

The series is now known as Thomas and Friends, and had a big-screen entry in 2000 called Thomas and the Magic Railroad, which is not detestable, but merely mediocre.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Michael Brandon - The american guy who was in Dempsey and Makepeace - with his co star and now wife, the lovely Glynis Barber - who was also Su-Lin in Blakes 7

They still haven't "officially" canceled Arrested Development, but we all know it's in the cards. A crying shame, really.

I'm not surprised. They never "officially" cancelled Firefly either.

Was that cancelled already? Damn. I never saw it myself, but didn't it just start as a mid-season replacement?
