I'd throw Blade Runner and Conan the Barbarian into the mix but those really were for the adults only crowd.

that was a golden age for "sci fi/fantasy" movies; everyone was trying to make a SW-like movie or at least a SW-like success.

i remember movies like Dune (funny how the mechandising for this one was aimed at kids...) Outland (ok that one is more influenced by Alien), Krull, Tron, etc...
