That whole fuel room scene, to me, is useless, and makes things more complicated than they should be at the beginning of ROTS, and it makes that entire opening sequence too long. And, I really don't think the Yoda scene on Dagobah would work, since it would confuse a lot of people with Kashyyyk. Plus, I think that only the first of the three rebel alliance scenes should be put back in, so that you are given a hint of what is to come, without throwing in the entire subplot of the petition of the 2000.

That first Rebel Alliance scene is important because it sets up two major plot points for ANH:

1. Bail Organa and Mon Mothma have set up the Rebel Alliance
2. Palpatine has set up regional governors
