Does anyone watch the cheesy movies that SciFi runs on Saturday nights? Are they any good?

From what I have seen, no. Apparently locust are sharp and the human body is made up of basically 90% chili stew.

ROTFLMAO!

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

Considering the pot of chili I made three days ago and the fact that I've essentially eaten nothing BUT that since, I should probably stay away from locust.

And open flames.

when the channel first started back in 1992 I viewed it a LOT. the very first thing they showed was the OOT Star Wars ANH!!
I even have that on VHS somewere.

Now I check it out sometimes and on Fridays for Stargate and BG. I heard they are showing the New Doctor Who this Spring.

What is it about BUG Films?? SFC shows a Big Movie about every week?! And they seem to love Godzilla a lot too.

SciFi was my favorite channel by a country mile back when it first showed up. The Prisoner, Dr. Who, Land of the Giants, Lost In Space, Star Trek, SciFi Buzz...my god. OT Star Wars. The Dune extended cut. The Puppetmaster movies. Harlan Ellison. I totally geeked out. I looked forward to my Sunday night Prisoner fix all week.

Even the original movies were halfway decent. I remember this one called Deep Red with Michael Biehn (The Terminator) that was pretty good.

Now? I bought BSG on DVD after seeing one episode. Haven't had time to watch it yet, but I look forward to it. Otherwise, I couldn't care less about SciFi.

I enjoyed Bruce Campbell's "Man With The Screaming Brain" that they showed a few months ago.

SciFi, in my opinion, went downhill immediately after bringing in Bonnie Hammer. She was put in charge of "fixing" the network, and one of the things she did was kill everything that made the network great, starting with MST3K and all of the "cult" shows that were classics. I LOVED SciFi Buzz and Lost in Space, as well as Sightings and a show with Geoff Fox that I can't remember what the name was but he did a lot of stuff on the space program. The channel's hey-day was, IMO, from 95-late 98. BSG is the only thing that channel's got going for it now. Stargate is becoming the Law and Order of SciFi. Waiting for "Stargate: Downtown Pittsburgh" or whatever to come around next.

BTW Jay: You ever read any of Ellison's stuff? Picked up Strange Wine a while back, but have not finished it yet. Quite good so far.

I've always wondered why a lot of people hate Stargate...the original series that is.

I don' think its the best show out there, but I find it entertaining...well, I dunno about nowadays since they got rid of Macgyver and the General. Haven't really seen it.

Was it bitter feelings that Farscape got canned for all the other Stargates series? Just curious.

(As a side note: I read somewhere that the creators of SG complained that the series was "going off track" and heading somewhere they did not intend. I'll see if I can link it)

I enjoyed the original movie tremendously. However, I lost interest in SG when it was on Showtime and they had Amanda Tapping's character beating up Ghengis Khan's warriors in hand-to-hand combat. Little to "PC" for me at the time. I've often wanted to try it out again. My point was that it seems like SG is ALL that SciFi shows at times.

Just to be clear about this, are you people referring to the UK sky digital channels of those channels (bravo, sci fi..) or the American ones?

I almost never read. I'm a terrible English major. I did take The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy with me to Mexico last week though. First book I've read in years (I'd already read it in junior high over a decade ago).

Forgot about Farscape. Another shining moment from SciFi's past. When I was bedridden for three months after a car accident, I watched Farscape every day along with some other show whose name I can't remember. It was about fighting demons called Morlocks. Loved that one. That was SciFi, wasn't it?

they used to show porn movies on Bravo late at night and air cheesy 70's movies.

Sci-fi airs B-movies late at night too

And the decline continues...Sci-Fi is showing ECW Wrestling now. I guess because the opening title sequence has lots of fire in it it can be classified as Science Fiction. HUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Are there not enough channels dedicated to the teenage male demographic?????????

Bruce Campbell is the man. What the hell are we talking about this for? This is not open for discussion!

sci fi channel is run by people who don't understand sci fi or its audeince, want proof?

they cancelled galactica after only four seasons, and that is ahead of time for flash gordon.

and they replaced the excellent sg-1 with the inferior atlantis.

then again the suits of other netoworks have also been as moronic cancelling enterprise, space above and beyond, firely, and farscape.

i've had about just enough of fake wrestling, or reality tv as i can stand.

The only sci fi i have looked forward to in a long time other than the possible release of season 3 of the new galactica on dvd, is babylon 5 the lost tales.
