One thing I will never understand is some people's hatred towards the EU. The majority of EU works are clearly designed by enthusiastic Star Wars fans with the intent to provide good, entertaining, many times thought provoking stories. And, unlike Lucas, those in charge of the EU pay extreme attention to continuity to the point where there are very few continuity errors. And those errors that do exist typpically exist simply because Lucas changes his films and alters the story. There are only a few cases where I can see someone holding a grudge against the EU, like the Dark Empire series or...(I'm struggling to say it) The Star Wars Holiday Special. But the majority of EU attempts to actually add something to the story, unlike detract from it like Lucas has from time to time. Yes, some EU stories are bad apples like the ones I mentioned, but they are not really representative of the EU as a whole. The intent at Lucas Liscensing is to provide quality entertainment to its readers, not destroy their enjoyment of the saga.

And I always hate seeing these canon debates start up on TF.N and places. What I find hilarious is that the majority of the bashers say stuff like "Well, of course the Clone Wars cartoon is canon. But the books are not. The books suck. But the video games are fun." It makes me wonder if these same people have actually read a Star Wars novel, or if they just don't want to in fear that they might enjoy themselves.

Troy Denning (a common EU author) has said that he sees each author's stories as simply their version of a fairy tale, with Lucas' version being simply his own interpretation; as a whole, Lucas', along with their works would function as a complete story, but from different points of view.
