Oh sure your $500 dollar graphics card you bought is the best now, but how well do you think it will perform a year down the road, when newer games come out?

The lack of upgradability on consoles is a good thing. With PCs you have to cater to a wide audince of gamers, so you can't really optmise it for anything. With a console, you only have one peice of hardware to cater to, so you can put a lot more work into making sure it runs on that specific platform.

I know that PC games will look better than consoles given time. But I prefer the satisfaction of being able to put in a game, and have it just work. Not having to futz around with all kinds of settings and installers and copy protection.


With that said, I still enjoy playing Total Annihilation and I look forward to Supreme Commander
