While you're here Moth3r, I have a question: I used my digital camera to get MPEG movie footage of my children's school Christmas concert. What do I have to do with the footage to make it playable on my DVD player, which is VCD and SVCD compatible? Check whether the video complies with the specs for VCD - i.e. MPEG-1 352x240 1150kbps etc. If so, then you can use it to author a VCD. If it is some other resolution, then you will need to re-encode first.

Is it best then to use a program to convert the AVI into mpeg 2, then burn it? If so, what prog would you recommend?
I have my own preferred method for converting AVIs to DVD, using VirtualDubMod, AVISynth, CCE and DVDAuthorGUI.

I've heard other programs mentioned (WinAVI?) that are more automated and user-friendly.
