That's cool. Logged on Azuerus again and there seem to be a few more people seeding so should get Superman III - Extended Version soonish. Gonna stick it out with this.

Just one question, is the version on myspleen at the moment the aforementioned 'Upgraded' version?

Really interested in seeing the making of discs you have done tho and look forward to the upload.

Has anyone done a DVD preservation of the Theatrical Version of Superman the Movie? I know there is the offical DVD, and the extended international cut, but I haven't ever seen a "theatrical version" before on DVD.

As far as I know, Superman I was released on DVD as it appeared in theaters.

Unless there was another release that I missed, the DVD release of Superman has some of the additional scenes in it that was on the TV airings.

Dang, I never noticed that before. And wow, I never realized how high the budget on that movie was: $134 million.

wll good news my isp provides Free Newsgroups, and I have a vague understanding of them, Not much but more than I did before. I was thinking about a 'rare and Unseen Tv show's' Thread, as I haven't came across one. I've recently got my hands on a few:

'Batgirl' -- An Unaired tv pilot for a spin-off of the sixties 'Batman' hit. Both Batman and Robin make an appearance

'Buffy' -- An unaired tv pilot for the tv show, very low budget, no music cues or effects, scene wise I couldn't say what is differant as I have never watched the original.

'Smallville' -- an alternative Pilot, differant scenes, Music cues, and even actors. Must have for a collector

I will try and sort out some sort of d/l link, I'll work on them and get them up as soon as I can. other titles I will hopefully be getting in the next few day's include:

'Birds of Prey' -- Alternative tv pilot

'Southpark' -- Unaired pilot

'Family Guy' -- Unaired Pilot

and hopefully will be sorting out a few rare movies aswell, I'll keep posted.

I have Superman the theatrical cut which I taped off of amc in widescreen years ago....

Remember, Highlander, you’ve both still got your full measure of life. Use it well, and your future will be glorious.

This could be finally happening!

Yes... looks like it's true. We've known for a while now that Warner Home Video was working on new DVD special editions of the Superman films to tie in with the release of Bryan Singer's Superman Returns later this year (in theaters 6/30), but now we have the first actual confirmation... from Ilya Salkind, who co-produced the first three Superman films! Salkind has acknowledged that he's working with Warner on the new DVDs, and that all of the films in the series are being restored and given deluxe new special edition treatment, a-la last year's Batman Anthology collection. By far the best news in all this, is that it seems that Warner is FINALLY allowing Richard Donner to create his original director's cut of Superman II! How damn cool is that?! As many of you know, Donner directed Superman: The Movie and most of Superman II back to back, but was eventually fired from the sequel. Director Richard Lester was hired to replace him, and it's Lester's cut of the film that we've seen all these years. What's cool is that Lester's theatrical cut of the film is being given special edition treatment as well, so you'll be able to fully explore BOTH versions of Superman II on DVD this summer. Lester MAY even do an interview for the DVD - something he's been reluctant to do over the years given the controversy. This information comes from Salkind via The Superman Homepage fan site, which expects to publish a full interview with Salkind in the coming weeks. Very cool news indeed (though keep in mind that until Warner announces this set, it's all still unofficial). Thanks to Bits reader Matt K. for the heads-up on this.

Hi, I hope this thread is still active, I just saw Superman IV on region 2 (UK) DVD. The last time I saw this movie was when I was about 5 years old, I am now 20. I loved it last time I saw it (why wouldn't I?) But now I seem a bit disapointed, The superman vs nuclear man fight scenes were horribly short!! I've heard about how the movie was origianlly 134 minutes and thats just WOW for me, the longer the better I say!

Also apparently there were scenes containing a tornado and a nuclear missile hitting somewhere on earth, but these scenes were not in the DVD I saw I would seriously do ANYTHING to see the rumored "International Cut" or "Extended Version" of Superman IV, because next to II, it's my fav!

I'm probably the only person on earth who likes Superman IV this much, and I WILL DO ANYTHING TO SEE AN EXTENDED VERSION!!

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Where do you guys post these movies like the making of's and RIC cuts of the movie? I have a DVD of Superman II which was edited for TV, it has scenes like when the silent bad guy kills the boy on the horse with the red siren light and when superman destroys the fortress of solitude, I think its a VHS to DVD transfer I'd rate the quality 6-out-of-10

Still I'm on my own mission a "Quest For The Extended Superman IV"
