ric is correct. The expression comes from when the Fonz jumped over a tank of sharks with his motorcycle. It is generally accepted that after that time the show went downhill after that point.

Well, the creators of Jump the Shark generally say that it wasn't the necessarily the act of jumping the shark that screwed Happy Days, but the fact that, from that point on, Happy Days sucked. That was also right around the time Chachi joined the show, and Richie and the others started college. Although, on the website, most people voted for Ron Howard leaving being the jump the shark point.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Jumping the Shark means when a series gets to a point where the show begins to go downfall, usually due to some change on the thematics or the plot, or a character change.

Like on sealob 2021 when murphys voice person Harry Goz died, that was the only time I was able to spot one.

You're mixing up two episodes here. Actually, in that episode, they were on vacation somewhere and he got on waterskis with shorts on and of course, his leather jacket. So, he jumps over a big area of sharks with the waterskisskis and everyone cheers for him. A lot of viewers who saw this episode thought that this stunt was silly, and not something his character would do.

The episode with the motorcyle was where he decided to jump over 14 motorcycles with his street bike at Al's. After a big build up, he eventually crashed his motorcyle. However, the viewers of that two-part episode generally considered that stunt something he would do.

And I don't know how I remember this.

Yeah, the motorcycle stunt was a few seasons earlier, and the Fonz came out of pretty injured. But, because I'm nitpicky, it's Arnold'ss, not Al's. That goes for the name of the restaurant, which was always Arnold's, and, at that point, Arnold (Pat Morita) was still on the show rather than Al (Al Molinaro), so Arnold, yeah.

Stargate SG-1, wot no Jack O'Neill (with two l's)

The guy off Fartscape is absolutely no substitue for Jack, sure they managed to retain Sam, Teal'C and Daniel but Jack was the main character of the show, they should've called it a day at the end of season 8 when he didn't return, and I've found out they've renewed SG-1 for a 10th season! I think a lot of fans will be very pissed off if Jack doesn't come back for that.

I love Futarama, especially watching the DVDs with the commentary and I really hope Futurama returns, with the full original voice cast, animators and writers. Fox has a bad habit of cancelling shows because they feel they don't make them enough money, despite them being great in their own right, I really liked "The Tick" & "Action".

HERE'S GREAT NEWS!
Here's the official word on Futurama!!
David X. phoned me about an hour ago and said that this Futurama project
is a done deal! Here's the word from DX---
There are 4 DVD movies that we'll start recording at the end of July or

I have a hard time believing that Billy West actually posts on his own fan made message board.

But that aside, I am very excited about the Futurama movies. See? I told ya' so!! Too bad that they are straight to DVD movies and not Cinema movies, but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Viva la Futurama!

This is the way to end a story. With well thought out, scripted movies, and not a slow death march towards season 16.

I'm kinda glad they're going the movie route versus an entire series. Not sure why but I suppose I'd be afraid they couldn't get the 'magic' back for an extended series. But I do look forward to once again being told to kiss someone's shiny metal ass!!

Hey! News at last!!!

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/tvnews.php?id=15106

Comedy Central has resurrected the former Fox series Futurama, ordering 13 episodes to debut in 2008. The deal builds upon the cable channel's acquisition of the 72-episode library last fall.

Discussions about a revival of the half-hour began in earnest earlier this year between Futurama producer 20th Century Fox Television and series creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen.

Actors Billy West, Katey Sagal and John DiMaggio are onboard for the new episodes that will continue the story of the pizza delivery boy, accidentally frozen for 1,000 years, who wakes up in the future.

Futurama has traveled a course similar to that of animated series Family Guy, which also was cancelled and later brought back after DVD releases and off-network repeats grew a new fanbase.

On one hand, this is great news everybody.

On the other hand, I have no doubt that those annoying kids who can't accept that Teen Titans is cancelled will cite this as evidence the show can return despite it's relatively minor popularity.

Neat! Sadly, the odds of those airing here are slim.

So last fall Comedy Central got the rights to aire all 72 episodes? Where does this leave Adult Swim? Will they be able to continue to aire the episodes as well? What about the news ones?

Yeah, I did back when I first found out it was ending. Since then it's been made clear there is *NO* chance of it returning as a continuing series (barring an act of God or Congress.)
