I think the reason why "The Wizard of Oz" so good is because it was shot on technicolor. All the technicolor films have aged very well. I've heard the film used for "Star Wars" was later found to be most suceptible to deterioration. There's a really good documentary that should explain some of this on the two disc special edition "The Adventures of Robin Hood." (the 1937 film)

I don't know if I want Ben Burtt to work on the sound mix for the next dvd release. I think with the official dvd's and prequels, the sound effects have drowned out the music way too much. The entire death star attack is a good example of this. When people talk about what was underused for the prequels, they should also mention John Williams. His memorable scores really had a huge impact. When people talk about parts of the prequels they like such as the Darth Maul duel, it seems very common for them to say "... and the John Williams score really adds so much to the scene." But think about it, outside of Anakin's Theme, Duel of the Fates, Across the Stars and A Hero Falls, what parts in the prequels had memorable music that you can hum to yourself? Like how Mike Verta of Star Wars legacy wrote how he would ask people to hum the theme to Raiders and then do the same for Spiderman. No one could do the second. Burtt mentioned in his boring commentary of ep 1 that he loved having just sound effects, no dialogue, no music for the podrace. I think could have been even better with music. Diddy Kong Racing for the N64 is one of my favorite videogames and a big reason for that is the music.

I thought the Ep II nightclub scene and asteriod chase between Obi Wan and Jango were pale imitations of the cantina from Star Wars and asteriod field from ESB. The reason the older ones were better was a large part due to the music. Can you hum the asteriod flight theme from ESB? Okay, can you do the same for the asteroid chase from Ep II? I didn't think so. Hell, I wouldn't mind having "Jedi Rocks" in the Ep II nightclub. It's over the top, in your face style (literally) would be more fitting for the prequels than the ot. It sure would make better sense to have it at a time when the Jedi were guardians of peace and justice in the republic, not when they were "traitors" who tried to "overthrow the republic." Didn't Jabba hate the Jedi anyway?
