Who saw Lucas's speech at Peoples Choice Awards?

Mmmmm... I shoulda brung me some marshmallows- thar be a fire in here....

*sigh*

I too am sick of hearing this recent Vietnam reference in regards to Star Wars. If there was any vague truth to that viewpoint at all it never, ever showed at the time the OT was being made or released. In fact truly the first I remember hearing any connection at all was Lucas 'defending' his politcal content in the PT (ie Nute Gunray, the 'This is how democracy dies' line, etc) and GL's defense was 'hey man I don't know nothing about no George Bush I'm a Vietnam baby, baby!'

And I kinda get the impression that GL, Spielberg, Coppola, et al weren't too concerned about anti-war rallies, etc when they were in film school- just making movies and trying to pass classes. That's not to say we all aren't products of our generation because of course we are- its just GL isn't an Oliver Stone (though his delusions seem to be rivaling Ollie's at times )
