NEW -
Superman: The Movie - The International Salkind Cut (NON-Composite)
TomahawkJ VHS transfer and Angrysun DVD authoring

Running Time: 188 minutes (NTSC) - This alternate and VERY, VERY rare Recorded as aired NON-composite version includes all known footage. As the film and its sequels enjoyed its popularity in the early 1980’s, producers Alexander and Ilya Salkind took it upon themselves to prepare the film for its eventual television broadcast. In order to market the film to television stations around the world, the Salkinds re-edited the film with approximately 45 minutes of additional footage not released in theaters. Whereas Richard Donner had complete directorial control in editing the film for theatrical release, the Salkinds had control of the film for international distribution and television marketing, and the film was re-edited without Donner’s approval. The added footage brought the running time of the film to 188 minutes, the longest known version of the film to be assembled and shown to audiences around the world.

Just wondering if this has been uploaded yet as I couldnt find it at myspleen?

Hey gang I just UPDATED my Superman III: The Salkind Extended Television Version DVD!!!

I'll add it to the upload list sometime in the next few days

NEW –
Superman III: The Salkind Extended Television Version (Upgraded Version!)
Angrysun DVD authoring of a Chad Stevens VHS transfer

Superman III was released in summer 1983 with a running time of 123 minutes (117 minutes PAL UK). The extended cut was first shown on ABC in 1985 with an extra 20 minutes of added footage; the running time was 143 minutes. Again this extended edition was produced by Alexander Salkind’s company.

Upgraded DVD with a newer VHS transfer that was on a dual-layer disc with much higher bitrate (5.5gigs vs. the old 3.4gig version), this VHS transfer also offers brighter colors and better saturation (flesh tones look almost real!) there is some artifacting during heavy motion but overall I feel it's much nicer – This transfer has the complete end titles and there are NO station ID’s.

Also added to this new edition is the very rare “The Making of Superman III” – transferred from a PAL Beta tape, I have converted the file to NTSC for compatibility; another addition is “Superman: The Mechanical Monsters” by the Fleischer Bros. from 1941 (I felt it followed the theme)

Guess I better get it uploaded before Rikter does. Kinda stupid to have both of us with the same master uploading them. I thought that was the point of this...not to duplicate.

- Are we in a contest that I was not aware of, and if so what is the prize? Is it cash???

I just read that you were going to upload the PAL version of the making of by itself but DID you also make a version with both S3 & the Making of S3 on one NTSC Dual Layer DVD?

- NOPE, It's not from either of you guys (so I'm now an IT???) - It's from another source tape and the screen captures above are from my RE-ENCODED version that's only 2 gigs - I also have a 4+ gig NTSC version

MAn am I ever excited reading this forum. I just can't stand watching the DVD versions of these movies that I have. They just seem so empty compared to the versions I remember from TV when I was a kid. How can I get these versions of the films that you guys are working on. I would absolutely LOVE to see these movies the way I remember them....Any help would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to email or reply here. Thank you all for your hard work. The studio should be ashamed for not giving us a choice of which version of the movie we want to see!!! Thanks again and I'm glad to be a part of your forum!

I recently discovered the joys of this forum, myspleen and the amazing generosity of everyone. I just wanted to second that comment above. The editing, extended versions etc of the movies I have got so far has been incredible - a real breath of fresh air. I'm going to comment more on some of the amazing work by everyone later, just wanted to drop by and say hi.

I'm in the u.k and keen on getting the 'Superman' collection that Rikter has created aswell as the RIC of Superman II. As I don't have the means to d/l these I would need some kind person out there to be willing to make a copy and mail it to me, of course I would cover there cost's. If anyone can do this please let me know, I know Rikter we spoke about this previously, But I didn't hear back from you. Cheers all.

Any chance any can put the extended versions of Superman and Superman III on newsgroups. I managed to get Superman III the RIC version from MySpleen but it took about 6 months (exaggerating slightly).

UPDATE: DOH!!!! Just did search on my newsgroup grabber and found the Salkind Extended Cut of Superman...thanks whoever posted that to alt.binaries.kevin-smith. My bandwith is certainly going to take a hit tonight
