Does it ever drive you crazy at the number of times you watch the exact same material? You must have watched the entire show countless times over the years, and that does not not include the number of times you rewatch specific segments while editing.

Speaking as someone who’s done a very similar project, I never tired of it - and still love watching TCW:R to this day. I wonder if it’s the same for g00b?

I used to get tired of it 🤣 BUT you had a significantly better show to work with. I’m getting to the point where I’ve editing everything enough that I enjoy every episode now! There was a few I used to dislike but not anymore!

That being said I do jump between working on this and working on the Micro series canon edit. So that variety keeps me sane at times.

I’ve just checked the most recent release, S02E07 – The Purrgil V4.1, and it does look better — but only a little.

Your cut (1080p):
https://ibb.co/TMhVZ3RC

Blu‑ray (1080p):
https://ibb.co/rGhnW0jQ

Comparison (enlarged section):
https://ibb.co/fdxCbc3y

The difference isn’t noticeable on flat or simple areas, but a lot of fine detail seems to be missing — for example, look at Zeb’s beard. There’s also some pixelation around the edges of certain objects, especially character faces. That effect becomes even more visible during fast motion, which is hard to capture in still frames.

I remember watching your edit and feeling for a long time that something was off. At first I blamed the color correction and figured I just needed to get used to it. But it kept itching at my brain 😄 so I finally compared it to the source material… and now I can’t unsee it 😛

I love it when people get this involved in fanedits.

💯 I’m here for it!!! We need y’all quality fanatics (or atleast I do).

CUZ!!! I haven’t felt this proud of another fellow faneditor in a while. You absolutely gave this your all and it shows.

MASSIVE CONGRATS FOR FINISHING THIS MASTERPIECE. I HOPE EVERYONE APPRECIATES YOUR ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND CRAFT. MUCH LOVE! X

Star Wars isn’t Star Wars without an opening crawl and fanfare. I enjoy what you’ve done here by taking inspiration from EddieDean’s Clone Wars Refocused, but with your own spin on that style.

I’ll have full opening crawls in my movie edit versions. Keep an eye out if you’re interested in them.

Ah sorry, I meant that the title cards you have are just as good as a classic Star Wars crawl!

The timing of the opening crawl is quite fast, and makes it hard to read the text in time. Consider the same timing as CW: Refocused?

I use the exact same timing as he does… 😉 I think I use a smaller font though. What did you think of season 1’s text? They’ve all got the current longer time version of the opening. (Some episodes don’t have this yet).

Overall the Season 1 text works well, and the transition between the title cards is a good length. I think my issue is that some of the lines fade in too quickly, before I can finish reading the previous line. In CW: Refocused the first part of the first title card is just one line. If you want each section to be two lines then maybe the timing shouldn’t be the same as CW:R?

@Imhotep I’ve just had a listen to Alliance, it is a great rousing fanfare. I think for Rebels though a rousing fanfare doesn’t necessarily hit the right vibe. The track is also a touch too short as well. It is a solid suggestion but I think for what I’m going for the theme I’ve got works better 😄

Fair enough! I hadn’t considered the length of the audio track. The Lothwolf theme you have works well regardless.

I gotta be honest with you g00b, I hate that goat scream meme you put in the beginning of Spark of Rebellion v4.14.

You can take it up with Movies Remastered who encouraged its inclusion 🤣

I’ve justified its inclusion as star wars has always made use of popular SFX files. The easiest example to point to would be the Wilhelm scream (which just so happens to be a meme adjacent scream). It mearly serves as a refrence if you know it’s source but fits into the intended SFX role in the episode itself.

Did you actually add it? I thought we were joking but I love you even more that you actually included it.

You’re my hero g00b!! ❤️

Oh, it for sure made the final cut 😉
