Not gonna lie, I straight up thought those were rocks! LOL. Thanks for pointing that out. So the line should probably be more like:

“Ben had vanished, and the rest of my students lay dead in the ruins.”

Reddit showed me a fun fact about this - apparently the trailer version of this shot doesn’t have the dead bodies. But since it’s a trailer it’s obviously not the full shot, so I can’t really just rip it from there and transplant it into the movie. It could serve as a useful tool if somebody wanted to make that change consistent with the rest of the available footage, but that’s about it. If that change could be made, we could go back to the other line I had.

But even then, Kylo has a line that acknowledges he destroyed Luke’s temple in this movie: “Did he tell you what happened? The night I destroyed his temple. Did he tell you why?” The writer of the comic tries to claim that Ben summoned the storm himself unintentionally, but… eh. So I think it’s more effort than it’s worth, personally. You’re right that the line replacement on its own is enough, as fun as the Rashomon stuff can be.
