What this project is:

Instead of traditional TV episodes, I have structured this project so that each manga volume is adapted into its own feature-length episode/film. This ensures the pacing perfectly mirrors the original Tankōbon release from start to finish.

Version 1 Stumble Beginnings:

Version 1 was my learning phase. I rushed through it in about three weeks, and the result was too rough to publish—especially after I accidentally deleted half my work! While it will stay firmly in the vault, I’m keeping it as a reminder to always give the editing process the patience it deserves. For those interested in the evolution of this project and the raw data, here is a look at the Version 1 titles and runtimes

Volume 17 - The World’s Greatest Team - 00:58

Volume 18 - The Kai of Worlds - 01:38

Version 2:

This is where the project truly found its identity. Like Version 1 my primary goal was to cut out the anime filler to match Toriyama’s exact pacing. But I also wanted the viewer to actively feel the structure of the manga while watching but, this time not watching a soulless hack job but an anime. To achieve this, I used the anime’s classic eyecatch (the commercial break bumpers) as structural bridges throughout the episode. They act as visual chapter markers—signaling the exact end of one manga chapter and the beginning of the next. It gives the edit a rhythmic, page-turning flow. The volume titles this time are factually faithful to the manga this time. Finally, while my original dream was to create an Ocean dub edit, I wanted to make this accessible to the entire community. Version 2 officially features two versions. You can watch the edit with the nostalgic Ocean dub, or switch over to the FUNimation dub depending on your preference.

Future Version 3 the final version:

While I’m incredibly proud of where the cut is right now, I view this as a living project. I am continually learning new editing techniques, and my long-term goal is to give this entire series a massive, definitive polish. Eventually, I plan to go back and seamlessly smooth out any rough edges or minor mistakes from my earlier cuts. But my most ambitious goal for Version 3 is audio restoration. I hope to utilize AI voice tools to recreate missing lines and fill in the historical gaps left behind in the original Ocean dub. The dream is to eventually provide a truly uninterrupted, flawless Ocean audio track that matches the manga frame-for-frame synced to the seed of might footage as version 2 is currently synced to Dragon Box footage.

Sources and Special Thanks:

A special thank you to the following creators and groups. I used their incredible work and archival efforts as the base for my edits, and this project wouldn’t exist without them!!

The Seed of Might Project - For providing the incredible base materials and footage that made editing this possible.

JKoshaRun1 - For his incredible work syncing the Ocean and Westwood dubs to the Dragon Box footage.

IAmTheMilkMan - Whose “Dragon Ball Recut” introduced me to the world of fan editing and inspired this entire journey.
