The pre 2004 cut of THX 1138 is on HBO Max in the UK! It’s the cut that was re-released in the late 70s after Star Wars became a hit.

It’s standard definition and cropped to 16:9. I’m assuming it’s an old broadcast master from before 2004. Appears to have PAL speed up. Looks decent enough to my eyes though. Nice colours and much better looking all round than the laserdisc.

This is far from perfect but better than I expected.
Much better quality than VHS or laserdisc.
I corrected the framerate to make it run at the proper speed
and I am very happy.
The original aspect ratio would have been nice but beggars
can’t be choosers.

The incorrect aspect ratio makes it unwatchable. It’s not slightly incorrect it’s butchered.
