Yep. Another fan edit.
A little prelude, if you may.
My whole video editing hobby started 21 years ago with Star Wars related media. Then the hobbie became very useful and even started to earn me living, so I couldn’t stop but think how would I re-arrange the existing footage or insert the deleted scenes?
When I discovered this forum, I decided to sit down again and try my luck a couple of years ago, being absolutely sure that I had found unique shots and ideas. For example, “aha! N-1 fighter from the trailer! No one has used it! I’m gonna insert it and chicks would give me!” or something like that. Or trying to AI upscale the “Obi Wan and Qui Gonn vs Darth Maul duel extended” on my work PC. Or holding on to one very old ROTS BTS shot, hoping no one would discover it. I wanted to shine, wanted to be the first in something I love…
Alas, I was already too late! N-1 fighter shot? Ha! Boom, two weeks later Phase3 is showing the test footage with the N-1 fighter and upscaled Darth Maul footage. I was playing on my old laptop (can’t use my work PC anymore for fan edits) with lighting and color correction to figure out the “wet” ending of the Grievous’ deleted scene - boom, in some extended edition the author used the subsequent deleted scene for Anakin and Obi Wan to escape through a tunnel, brilliant! And so on, and so forth. I realized that my impeccable excellent editing skills (not) are nothing compared to what people have released here. No sarcasm, I have enjoyed every single version I asked in DMs for, you guys are incredible and inspire me in some ways. That also set my mood back and I stopped actively editing the movies for many months))) The Phantom Menace – I don’t think I’ll even touch it after watching the Phase3’s work, 'cause I dunno what else could be done there.
However, I’ve decided recently to upload my WIP ideas anyway and share them with you, to get feedback, to mark a certain point in my life, maybe to find new comrades - who knows!
Thus, here’s what I have been up to. Thank you for reading the paragraphs above.
Since I didn’t have any multi-track sources, I worked with stereo, like a noob, because I never believed in myself. I also stopped having DVD-roms at some point in my life, so I couldn’t make my own RIPs. And I couldn’t find a source where one could obtain such files for all the movies. Maybe I wasn’t searching very hard. Anywho, I would be greatful to recieve any information on the subject. Like, I would be happy to delete battle droids’ exclamations myself instead of using other people’s edits.
Therefore, I apologize in advance. I promise, at some point when it’s all done, I will list all of the fan editors whose material I stole borrowed used from.
Ok, now about the edits.
I believe, it’s allowed to share some WIP footage on forum via links, instead of a full length feature which are always to be asked in DMs, thus that’s what I’m gonna do. I used MEGA, sorry, YouTube told me to F myself and thretened to block my account. Even though I see SW fan stuff on it every day and it’s not blocked. WTF, mate. I also can’t buy another phone number for a new Google account. …Nor can I pay for Vimeo. At least, atm. Please, forgive and understand.
The direction I took with the edits. Growing older and bitter I’ve become somewhat of a purist in terms of Star Wars movies. After numerous treacherous decisions made by Lucas and Disney to dismiss EU which I grew up with as well as nonsense that had been transpiring in the past 15 years withing the franchise I’ve decided the following: I only recognize Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back as canon, the rest is fan fiction. With a few minor details, of course. Like, Star Wars with 2,5 deleted scenes - 2 with Biggs and mentioning that Vader is a Sith Lord. Empire - Adywan’s version, of course, marvelous, great fan.
Alas, not a lot could be done with my technical specs but I followed a few principals: no mentioning of Anakin becoming Darth Vader, no prophecy until AOTC, no lightsaber for Yoda, as little of Darth Sidious appearing as possible, better more believable romance between Anakin and Padme, as well as more believable fall of his to the Dark Side. Despite me hating the fact that Leia is Luke’s sister it’s still somewhat intact in ROTS, just without naming the infants. Who knows, maybe after Alderaan Padme and her daughter would be relocated to a different planet in the Unknown Regions.
Phantom Menace
nothing as of today. Will return to it when I have a better PC or ideas.
Attack of the Clones.
The most finished edit by this point. I just need to re-insert the deleted scenes in better quality (thanks Phase3). …And probably re-assemble the cut with new multi-track sound))) I also used a few Revised version scenes, because they are perfect.

first of all, no more Tusken genocide. I re-edited the scenes on Tatooine so we don’t see the massacre and Anakin doesn’t go into a rage fit in front of Padme. Even as a kid, this whole shtick bothered me, like, that’s it, he’s Darth Vader - what else is there to watch? No judgement towards his actions, who wouldn’t purge a village of sadists for one’s mother, but the character was assasinated and no normal woman would date a supernatural psychopath. It wasn’t human. Now, in my version Anakin just brings the body of his mother, cries about her death and gets comforted by Padme. Also, I tried to trim all the creepy awkward stuff Skywalker is giving to Amidala in the original, added meeting her family and now they only kiss twice in the movie: before the arena and when they’re married. I would also put some other scene with them in the end, instead of the wedding, but I haven’t come up with what yet. Here’s the WIP footage

the start of the movie includes Padme addressing the Senate (which I still can’t figure out if it’s in her character), thus trimming all her protests against creating an army in the subsequented scenes. And, OF COURSE, training of Obi Wan and Anakin, put it right after Jedi and Amidala met with Palpatine and then trimmed the elevator scene. Here’s the WIP footage

re-editted the finale, using Revised footage but also adding chopping Fett to pieces (because it’s as stupid and sensless as Mace Windu having to fight him, instead of Obi Wan who had had two encounters with him already. Don’t tell me about the book, I’ve read the book, I’m watching a movie), Dooku saltuing to Obi Wan, my trim for Anakin loosing his arm, no lightsaber for Yoda. Oh and yeah, Padme doesn’t say “Look” anymore because if you can’t all hear dropships approaching you shouldn’t Jedi at all)) Here’s last 18 minutes of the movie WIP

Many other little trims here and there, like cutting the walk and talk in the Jedi Temple between Windu, Yoda and Obi Wan, adding a more interesting visually scene with the Jedi starfighter hangar.
Revenge of the Sith
The one that started it all… The funny thing is i’m still coming up with new ideas on how to trim here and there but my initial thought was to add all the little frames and deleted scenes that were cut for some reason. Like, from the day of the premiere I always noticed that Obi Wan’s lightsaber movement wasn’t finished after he jumped out of his starfighter or I was disappointed in absence of the cool Palpatine’s shot over Coruscant from the trailer. Or this cool panoramic shot that I was obsessed with when it was leaked back in 2004:
I was very dissapointed in the theater when I saw the finished result and didn’t understand why would one zoom into it and then use a cut? It’s flawless in choreography, perfectly shot, it’s reminiscent of ROTJ, it’s like poetry, it rhymes… And a lot of cool stuff concerning fight choreography was also cut from the movie so I used whatever I could find, including an old fan trailer. Unfortunately, my home PC is rather old so AI upscaling, AE rotoscoping and especially that sweet sweet DaVinci magic mask are not options for me to bring all the cool BTS footage to life due to small amount of memory((

Start of the movie. I thought of how to re-arrange the Battle of Coruscant for a while, then a few days ago Joy of Editing released their version of it and it’s just perfect. I don’t know how I or anyone else can top it, so I used that. However after that all the editing, except for escaping from Grievous through the floor, it’s all me. I trimmed a lot of lousy humour, although the elevator scene just edited itself this way - I’m a big fan of Auralnauts Jedi Party/Larry series, added a few new shots from the BTS and most importantly added new music. I thought that Phantom Menace’s soundtrack is not used enought in the Prequel Trilogy, that it could give some themes to certain scenes. So I added Attack of the Sith theme, when Qui Gonn fights Maul for the first time: it reminds me of old Hollywood movies, like Adventures of Don Juan, a heroic old school adventurous theme wich IMO fits Anakin and Obi perfectly. First we start with an adventure, then…cut an old man’s arms and head. But then I return it on the Bridge when they fight the droids, absence of music there has always bothered me. I also included Grievous killing Shaak Ti because, well, I want Grievous to kill somebody in this movie)))) I hate, after the OG Clone Wars, what Lucas and Felony had done to the character. Again, was working with stereo, so droids’ BS is still there. And I also like how many editors cut Obi Wan’s jump in the hangar to make it similar in tone with the OT but I just dunno yet. Throughout the movie I cut all the mentions of Anakin being Darth Vader. I can’t re-shoot the movie completely (yet) but that’s the least I can do. I never understood Lucas’ idea to watch SW chronologically if you already know that Anakin is Lord Vader - what’s the point of Empire’s reveal in the end? So no suit either. Padme survives, shots courtesy of Hal9000. No lightsaber for Yoda as well. I also re-arranged and trimmed the final duels, added Qui Gonn’s voice, inserted new shots with Anakin and Obi Wan. Palpatine’s arrest scenes has been re-cut as well. I don’t know with what direction I’m gonna go in the reveal scene or even if I leave it there (again, Joy of Editing, ingenious) but I’ve trimmed the film to exclude the bad dialogue, mentioning of Darth Vader and…the whole killing the Jedi by Palpatine))) Anakin arrives already to Windu standing over Sidious. Again, using the Juggernaut Hal9000’s edit for the window scene, because it’s genius. The entrance of the Jedi and dialogue have been re-arranged and I added the fix of lightsabers actually glowing in the dark of the room, made by a creator I forgot which one((( But it has been bothering me for 20 years - you release all these special editions, make money of it and can’t add something fans can do in their homes for free? Shame, Lucasfilm and Dinsey, shame. Glowing lightsabers is like THE thing I’d add to the old movies if I wanted them to look modern. Anywho, here’s the Palpatine’s arrest footage WIP

Palpatine’s announcement and Jedi Temple scenes re-arranged, but I forgot why. Oh wait, to exclude the killing of clone troopers, because Yoda can’t have a lightsaber. As cool as that scene was, no lightsaber for Yoda. If a baby-sized Force user has one, that means that something like Bendu from Rebels must also have a giant lightsaber (I grew up on Plinkett reviews and I’m not ashamed to agree with him). Also included Anakin’s turn to the camera from the teaser trailer - again, why have a cut there?.. And excluded mentioning of Darth Vader between Yoda and Obi Wan. Here’s footage WIP

all in all, this version will include Senators deleted scenes (why were they deleted, Padme became a plot tool for Anakin without them…), no balcony cringe nor visual premonitions. I tried to trim all the “cool” walking and talking (I know, I would watch the whole movie of people doing just that) but it is what it is. If I manage somehow to get a better job thus a better computer, I wll definetely go into adding FX to all the BTS blue and green screen Anakin vs Obi Wan fighting and extend their duel with less shitty close ups and more cool moves.

I don’t know if I include this in the fan edit but I’m trying to make yet another Order 66 FULL CUT, using the TV series footage and numerous AI shots I have found online
I hope you enjoy watching these reels, hope to recieve some feedback and possibly collaborations. I can’t say when exactly I will upload the movies yet, will keep you posted. But I knew I had to post what I’ve completed so far, otherwise it would eat me from the inside.
