I’m not going to pretend the Prequel Trilogy didn’t rely too heavily on CGI or that there weren’t some pretty obvious misses in that department. We all agree on that point.
But honestly, this thread feels like it was designed just to slowly post every single frame from the trilogy one by one, nitpick something in each of them, keep going until there are no frames left, and then say, “See? We checked every frame and none of them are good. That proves that the Prequels suck.”
I genuinely don’t see what the point of this thread is supposed to be beyond that.
This is what I was saying before. This thread is a lot like these 12 hour long video essays which just list off tons and tons and tons of nitpicks without ever saying anything actually insightful about these movies. Even beyond just whether or not I agree or disagree with the point the thread is trying to make (whatever that is), compare it with Empire Wrecker’s “Why does Attack of the Clones look like a video game” video, which Jason cites in this thread. It has a lot to say about what was happening behind the scenes during the production of this movie, and isn’t just a big long list of snafus. The examples he does give provide holistic insight into what makes the movie feel the way it does, and are more often representative of problems throughout the whole movie. It isn’t just Obi-Wan’s lightsaber being color graded darker than it should be in one shot.
Even if you have an EFAP/CinemaSins level engagement in the media you consume, and the raw number of “sins” in a movie makes it worse, what makes seeing the Wampa puppeteer’s arm in ESB charming, the disappearing dagger in TLJ a hit below the belt, the crew member in jeans in Mando funny, but Padmé’s cable in TPM a “sin”?
Not to mention, like all of Jason’s tomes, this thread is full of QC errors of its own.
Most entries in this thread, especially from Revenge of the Sith, aren’t actually poor quality CG, or even a movie mistake or QC problem. Like the scene where Anakin just landed on Coruscant, or the opening long take. There’s nothing actually wrong with these scenes, and the latter features a pretty appropriate usage of CGI, even if I think the scene is very overrated. Tons of examples just vaguely gesture at the effect “looking like a video game”, which captures a true feeling for most of the prequels, even if they really don’t look like video games from 2026 let alone the 2000s. But… what about it specifically makes it look like a video game? Even if we’re just cataloguing shots and not trying to analyze them deeply, it’s unclear why many of these belong here.
You could call it padding for quantity over quality, but it seems more like Jason was flipping through some youtube video, saw a shot like this…
^ No, again, the above image is not from one of the video game tie-ins… or animated series - but from the film itself.
…and just makes a connection to this thread, saying…

This seems to be a theme, because it’s present in the Time Traveling revisionist thread. It’s full of bad sources, incorrect information, and tons of examples that have little to do with the supposed point of the thread. When this has been pointed out, rather than remove it or update the thread, he’s tended to double down.
