Very interesting (although your links of the blu-ray and the comparison I think are the wrong way around). I’d be interested in what you think of how my season 4 movies look.
It looks to me that the compression is losing the detail of the grain of Rebels (which is why we’re getting some softer details) but with my movies, I push the grain further AND upscale. I’m curious to see if you can find similar visual quality issues there! 😄
Yeah, sorry, I messed up the links 😛
I hadn’t seen your movie edits before, so I made a comparison - and ummmm… I think it’s actually even worse than the episodes for some reason.

As before, a lot of detail is missing, especially in the background. But this time the biggest issues are with dark surfaces. In the comparison you can see heavy pixelation on darker areas (Ezra’s back, the shelf/wall edge near the stormtrooper helmet, the area around Ezra’s nose, etc.).
I also noticed that because of the letterboxes, the top and bottom of the frame are cropped, (which made presenting this comparison a bit harder than with the episodes 😛) I’m assuming that was an artistic choice, right?
