“Look how invested we all got in TLJ when Holdo seemed to be a baddie, only to turn around and be secretly leading the rebels to Crait. You could create a similar tension in the sequels where Holdo comes off as a likely identity for the evil hologram lady, only to be revealed as a good guy”
“Heck, I don’t even like RoTJ!”
It’s all making more sense now
Not sure if you’re taking a shot at me here but let me clarify…
I said the RoTJ thing in fun, only because it’s ironic I’m defending the story integrity of a movie I don’t really like. But the fact remains that RoTJ is a definitive ending to the saga and is thus easily undermined by potential sequels - which is why I’m so hung up on the sequels presenting a story thread that can preserve RoTJ’s conclusions (which included the prequels’ ‘balance’ theme) whilst allowing for a continuation.
I also don’t like TLJ - but I did at least like the idea (if not necessarily the execution) of Holdo’s duality, and I thought a similar notion could work (as it did for many in TLJ) in a sequel trilogy.
