<span class=“Bold”>UPDATES:</span>
01/02/07 - NTSC version now available for download on torrent sites.
28/01/07 - Demonoid and first batch release DVD fix - This fixes the error that makes the main doco skip back to the menu at 01:53:50. Please only replace the original files with the ‘fix’ ones when you have finished seeding.
20/01/07 - Final Version (I hope!) complete. It’s DL and SL too!
15/01/07 - Coming across numerous little unexpected and unusual problems after rending (each render takes 8hrs!). Very frustrating. Latest render has 8 frames of green blocks right at the start of the doco. I am now getting to the point of living with things like this just to get the project finished. I have another project I wish to finish by the end of Feb.
03/01/07 - More effects work to be done. Delayed.

QUICK FAQ

<span class=“Bold”>Q: How can I get a copy?</span>
A: The DVD in both PAL and NTSC formats has been uploaded to several torrent sites and rapidshare by a third party. Meedermow has very kindly offered to do single layer copies for those in the UK.

<span class=“Bold”>Q: Are there plans for a NTSC version?</span>
A: Boon23 kindly converted the PAL version to NTSC.

<span class=“Bold”>Q: Can I send you some money on Paypal to get a copy?</span>
A: Absolutely not! Although it’s cost me plenty of money and time to create this DVD, I will NOT accept any money for the distribution of this project. Please see the first question on how to obtain a copy.

<span class=“Bold”>Q: Where can I get a DVD cover for this project?</span>
A: Several board members have made covers already. Cover Artwork here!
<span class=“Bold”>Q: What did you use to create the project?</span>
A: I used a dual 1GHz G4 Powermac with Final Cut Pro 4.5, DVD Studio Pro 3, A.Pack, Compressor, Photoshop 7 and Cinematize.

<span class=“Bold”>Q: What inspired you to create this project?</span>
A: Pure and simple… The success of my previous project ‘Building Empire’.

<span class=“Bold”>Q: How long did it take to make from start to finish?</span>
A: I started before ‘BE’ was finished. So it’s taken…er a rather long time. About 10 months on and off.

<span class=“Bold”>Q: What sources did you use?</span>
A: Too many to mention, but there is a condensed list above.

<span class=“Bold”>Q: Why didn’t you include details about the Rebel gunner on the Falcon etc etc?</span>
A: I did consider everything I could find, but not everything made the cut. I tried to stick to the mostly unknown and/or interesting.

<span class=“Bold”>Q: Are there plans for a sequel/prequel?</span>
A: I do have plans to make a Star Wars version, preliminary research is being done right now.

A rebuild of the opening crawl with the title Revenge of the Jedi would be cool.

That would be cool. Unfortunately I don't have the resources to do it. Anyone? Anyone?

I am not sure how accurate the wording is of this....(it is much better on a black starry background)

It appears to be from the June 12, 1981 rough draft script.

If you want any SE elements in there, there is a workprint version of the redone 1997 ending floating around.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

"If there will be enough material?"

If??

Jeez, just look at the specials - there's five times as much making of footage out there from Jedi as there is for any of the others. It's Empire that there's not much on.

You forgot "When Star Wars Ruled the World."

I know there's lots of material of models being made, effects being designed etc, but I am looking for more of the behind the camera/alternate angles stuff along with different takes and bloopers etc. You'll see what I mean when you get your copy of 'Building Empire'.

The 'if' also refers to if I can summon the strength to start this project There's so much material to wade through.

I would be interested to see what resources you compiled / what ideas you had for the ill fated "Deleted Magic: ROTJ".

Jambe Davdar, just a quick question but, are your "BUILDING EMPIRE" and "BUILDING JEDI" projects now considered the "official" sequels to Deleted Magic?

They were certainly inspired by Deleted Magic, but they are not considered 'official' sequels (I like to think of them as cousins . Ocpmovie hasn't even seen it!

You kind of need to roll with what's available, and create a different style for this project. The making of material for Jedi is so legendary that you need to base your style on that.

You can get a pretty good idea from the trailer on Deleted Magic, and the "Making of Lapti Nek/Lapti Nek" feature, as well as the "Creatures Go to England" bit on Return of the Ewok.

The deleted scenes from Empire and Jedi would have been covered with script readings .... the extended Obi-Wan scene and the sandstorm being my big choices from Jedi ... but in the DM clips you can see that I was working to combine Classic Creatures and From Star Wars to Jedi into a coherent whole --- since they share the same footage and ideas behind them. I took pains to combine sections of, say, the English language Lapti Nek ("Fancy Man") heard in bits in both specials (there's also a nice snippet in Return of the Ewok, but I hadn't seen that when I made Deleted Magic). So you hear Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and probably in the final version Billy Dee Williams trading off on narration, and it's synced to the real extended music video.

Making of footage for that short snippet was chosen by how funny it was.

In "The Creatures Go to England," I again edited the two specials together to get a longer more coherent whole.

The trailer of course comes from the VH1 special, the outtakes reel, and Empire of Dreams ... as with Empire.

Thanks for your suggestion, but I not really 'rebuilding' Jedi, I am going to be making the sequel to 'Building Empire'.

I appreciate your thoughts though.

Just wondering, will you be doing a Building Hope or something? As much as this is like DM, it is quite differnt. The commentry and way it is shown.

Time is the biggest problem. I have the resources, but it's difficult fitting in life, a baby, a wife and and job with this hobby. I gave up collecting vintage figures last year for the same reason.

I will try to do Jedi first.

Ok, I have decided to give this ROTJ project a greenlight! It's going to take TIME though, there is so much material to use out there!

It will take a similar form to 'Building Empire'. Once again there will be commentary from a variety of sources and where possible deleted scenes will be looked at. I will also be doing a study/comparison of the 'Revenge' script.

I am interested in any of the following:

- Interviews with cast and crew from back in the day
- Decent res photos of the Sandstorm deleted scene.

Thanks in advance.
J

P.S - Thanks Ocp for your lengthy reply. I had already figured pretty much all that you said but it was useful nonetheless.

Well I have made some progress today - I am not working and the wife and baby are away for the night.

I have already worked through Empire of Dreams, the Lightsaber and Characters featurettes and picked out all the Jedi clips and placed them accordingly in the movie. There is also some nice interview stuff that will work great for commentary.

However, I have come across a little challenge. Some of the outtake footage has credits in the lower-third of the picture. Does anyone know of a way in Final Cut Pro to blur out the credits (similar to the way that the TC was blurred on that early ROTS rip)?

Thanks in advance
