So I was re watching the Battle of Kings Landing in your Film 9, and still confused on the bells scene. Danny starts the attack, no bells ringing, but as she’s flying to to the keep, the bells start ringing, yet the army attacks the Lannisters army right after. Was this an error or am I missing something?

Good question. The way I cut it is to imply that:

  1. Daenerys gives Cersei the chance to surrender (she sits down her dragon, gives Cersei time) but she’s not surrendering.
  2. The Lannister Army is not putting down their swords (implying they’d rather fight for Cersei than a foreigner)
  3. When the bells start actually ringing, it’s implied that it’s not even by Cersei’s command (hence Daenerys is tired of Cersei’s shit and is proceeding for the final blow - knowing full well, as Tyrion has told her, that Cersei always lays a trap).

So, in essence, point 3:
a) Fifteen minutes prior, in the Dragon Pit, Danaerys tried to make her and Cersei form an alliance/understanding the proper way. It went south, no pun intended.
b) After destroying The Scorpions during the King’s Landing attack, she gives Cersei room to surrender again.
c) The Lannister Army does NOT surrender.
D) Expecting a trap, given the final chance for surrender, and now making her way to the castle - just as the bells start ringing (but not by Cersei’s command) Daenerys finish her off.

Ah I see. Makes sense. So the citizens rang the bells so no reason to go scorch earth on them, just cersei and the army?

That, and the way the events unfold, as well as the fact that that was the safest option in the moment for sure. In Film 8 and 9 Tyrion makes a great number to Daenerys that “Cersei is the one laying traps” as well as how dangerously lethal and manipulative she is.

Makes a lot of sense. Thank you for explaining it. I also sent a DM to you but its a spoiler for your Film X.

Hi! I really liked your Game of Thrones movies. I finished watching movie 10! Very good! I remember You saying there would be two versions of the final movie. Version 1 being the dark ending and then version 2 ending a bit different with a bit more of a ‘positive’/ victorious conclusion.
Is this still the plan?

Obviously whatever You decide is great! It’s your life and wouldn’t want to interfere with that! Just wanted to check! Thanks for doing all of this!

Just discovered this and admire your dedication to this! I’m a huge Thrones fan, book and movies, and am desperate for some level of quality conclusion. Haven’t been able to revisit the show since it ended.

Hi,
I was wondering if you had a plan to add back the scene with Jaime saving Brienne from the bear in Season 3?
This scene seems like a defining point moment for both characters.

Hi, I understand why some of you would like that, but from a film-structure perspective the scene doesn’t work for me. It feels more suited as a “Deleted Scene” or, naturally, as part of the series itself.

My reasoning:

a) Brienne despises Jaime because she views him as dishonorable—a kingslayer. Once his true story comes to light, her hatred begins to fade, replaced by compassion for the man he reveals himself to be: a reluctant but genuine hero. This shift in their dynamic becomes the new connective tissue for their relationship moving forward.

In this context, Jaime saving Brienne from the bear isn’t essential. It doesn’t carry the same fundamental weight as his earlier act of saving her from rape, which is a far more critical turning point. The bear scene therefore risks redundancy—it reinforces Jaime’s compassion and heroism, but it doesn’t add anything vital to the storyline.

WHAT HAVE I DONE?
The Ancient Lore
Kenobi: A Star Wars Story
Harry Potter Revisited
Game of Thrones Film Edits
Titanic Restructured
… and more.

Explained it this way, I totally understand your choice now.
Thank you for the explanation, I’m ok with this choice now (for my own personal enjoyment) 😃

I just got done watching this and I have to say, out of all the GOT ending edits I’ve seen, this feels the best it could be.

Have you seen these two?

Game of Thrones: Restored, Restructured, Rewatchable: https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/game-of-thrones-restored-restructured-rewatchable-released/id/82444/page/1

Unfair Cut / Best Edit: https://bestedit.net/edit-list/129-game-of-thrones/

I’m going to watch the unedited series until S7 starts, and then I’m going to watch a fanedit but I’m not sure which…

How is this different than 'Heavysyde’s purist re-cuts? Does this adapt the entire show or also cut out most of the original BS ?

I haven’t watched them, but since he calls himself a “purist” I assume he sticks closely to the books. I don’t. I focus on crafting the most cinematic version of the Game of Thrones story within the medium it was actually presented in. Films 1–5 follow seasons 1–4 quite faithfully, though condensed and restructured to work as feature films. After that, I take more creative liberties to shape a more compelling take on the weaker final seasons. And the two final films create a different ending completely.

Do you weave together all the separated stories? Meaning, in each original episode, they cut from one character to another, so did you piece all the Tyrion, Daenyrus etc scenes together?

Also, I’m watching the original seasons through season 6, so is it advisable to end with your films, and if so which one should I start with after I finish S6?
