What does everyone think of Mandalorian & Grogu supposedly beong re-worked as a small-screen miniseries?

I’m kind of shocked at the news considering all the marketing. They even hijacked the last IMAX screening I went to with a mandalorian themed countdown to promote it as “Made for IMAX”.

In today’s age of entertainment mismanagement and marketing fuckups I shouldn’t be surprised, but I’m stumped as to why they’d do this to themselves. Seems massively impractical.

Seeing a big-screen Mandalorian entry as a movie was actually kind of exciting, even though I hated S3.

I think you must’ve misread something.

My reaction to your post was “first I’m hearing of this, but also that makes no sense.”

After some googling, the “news” is that if Mandalorian and Grogu flops, then Filoni’s planned sequel (aka the “Untitled New Republic Movie” aka “Mandoverse Crossover” aka “Heir to the Empire”) will be reworked as a miniseries.

I read it on ITM which is usually pretty okay. Seems like there are conflicting reports which are sparking rumours. My bad… I mean I didn’t think anything past this movie was planned for later which is honestly how it should be imo. Just plan to make a good movie and make more if it does well, but never expect something to do well with the expectation of setting up future stuff.

EDIT: Yeah you’re right, misleading writing and read while tired. It’s the mandoverse that “may not be coming to the big screen”. Big eye-rolls. Nothing is more off-putting to me now than something labelled a “something-verse”
