Isn’t the Rey movie episode 10 in all but name. But they are tiptoeing around it. I guess you can consider Starfighter to be episode 9.5 since it is post Rise of Skywalker.
And Mando and Grogu is Mandoverse.

Yeah but that’s if the Rey movie ever materialises. I could imagine them just dropping the episode/trilogy format.
All I’m hearing is “On count of 3! Okay 1, 2…two and a half…I REALLY MEAN IT NOW! …two and three quarters…”
“The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.” - DV
SW needs to take a break, could be ten years, could be fifteen or twenty, and just let demand grow again.
I’m just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.
Star Wars has 3 eras: The eras are 1977-1983(pre Expanded Universe), (1983-2014) expanded universe, or (2014- now) Disney-bought version. Each are valid.
My movie reviews aren’t AI, they’re just written by someone who’s Neurodivergent. If you don’t like them, then simply don’t read them.
I disagree I’d like to see another Star Wars within my lifetime. Who knows if I have decades left, god willing. But I may not. I’d like to enjoy life and smell the roses, so to speak, while I still can.
I’d also like an X-men film I don’t have to wait another ten years for, and can we please get a Star Trek film.
If they aren’t making that Rey movie please let Daisy know and stop gaslighting the fans, and KK please retire.
I’m somewhat pleased there was a new Superman film, can’t wait for a Supergirl and Wonder Woman movie. And another James Bond. I’m even looking forward to the Hunt For Gollum but have no idea what to expect with Andy Serkis not Peter Jackson directing. Looking forward to Avengers doomsday, maybe I’m setting myself up again, Disney is known to disappoint. With few exceptions Like Alien and Predator, and Planet of the Apes franchises. Fox films.
Will there be another JJ Abrams Star Trek, that is as nebulous as Disney and The Rey Skywalker movie. I don’t hardly trust Simon Kinberg with anything that is not X-men related. Even there he had his hands in X-men The Last Stand and Dark Phoenix and 4-Tastic. With Star Wars and Star Trek, please.
Seems to me that whatever Rey’s next thing ends up being, it’ll be released as Episode 10. Disney consider her an asset to use, but slapping a number on is an easy way to generate more interest. By the time the film happens it will be a decent gap since the last one too.
Simon Kinberg is such a hack though. Surely Star Wars can do better. I can’t believe he continues to fail upward.
I dunno, maybe combining Obaid-Chinoy’s and and Kinberg’s and Levy’s takes on whatever they want the “post-saga” story to be could end up as a good thing. We all complained that George surrounded himself with yes men when he made the prequels, but I don’t exactly consider the sequel trilogy the most collaborative project either.
Look at how Cameron handled the Avatar sequels. The writers broke the story together and then were each assigned an individual film for which to write a screenplay. That would’ve been a great way to go about making the prequel and sequel trilogies, I’d only add that each film should’ve had a different director.
Rogue One and Solo, messy as they are, are examples of how intervention from the producers can actually turn out well. The difference this time around will be that rather than retooling these films after principle photography, they go through different writers and directors before greenlighting anything. That’s not necessarily a bad approach, it’s just that they’ve had to spin their wheels with the endless streaming shows in the meantime which has been incredibly hit or miss.
That actually brings me to what I’d do, and it’s what I think George should’ve done with the franchise after the mid-80’s. He actually had the right idea with the Ewoks tv movies and the Ewoks and Droids animated shows. Those all told fun side stories that would never contradict a continuation of the main saga. I know George claims he’d decided in ‘83 to officially make VI the end of the story and didn’t change his mind until decades later, and I’ll take his word for it, but either way he should’ve just stayed away from the post-RotJ era altogether and not authorized any media telling the further adventures of our heroes. As big of a deal as Episode VII was when it actually ended up getting made, it could’ve taken on mythic status had the fans been left without the pre-existing old “legends” EU to compare it against.
Instead, and this applies to the current state of things as well, jumping back into the past and telling stories set thousands of years earlier and sticking only to that era would’ve been a much bolder move. I know that’s antithetical to how franchises operate, yeah you always want to please these fans and those fans, but storytelling shouldn’t get sacrificed on the altar of marketability.
If they’re really going to make Mangold’s Dawn of the Jedi film, I’d almost say just make that the new saga and stick to that era. They’ve had so much time to figure out the Rey movie that I’d just say make it the definitive epilogue to I-IX and leave that time period in the galaxy far, far away alone forever.
Yeah, but they had the High Republic era and project luminous and after five years they’ve abandoned it. On the heels mind you, of the Acolyte being cancelled. There are no films in that era. I don’t see what placing a film at the Dawn of the Jedi, how that somehow miraculous fixes the fan discontent with Disney. The lack of adherence to canon, or any sense they’ve planned or outlined anything, have finally figured out how to build out a story and do world building. and aren’t just throwing stuff at a wall to see what sticks. Like a blindfolded person throwing darts trying to hit a bullseye.
They always do random things then try to get the comics writers and novelists to fill in the blanks, or to get the story group to claim it all makes sense. Of course we have a plan, right. I don’t believe that with somehow Palpatine returned.
I feel bad for the Disney EU writers who have to retcon or make sense of one of the bad movies. Where the director didn’t do his homework. And the story group allowed them to do whatever they wanted. With no regard to the legacy of SW, or its characters, or its own separate internal laws of how it all works.
put the st andor and the acolyte in a alternate timeline and not caring what the andor fanboys think and reboot the st andor and the acolyte
star wars tv shows and movies about the stuff between the prequel trilogy and original trilogy episodes
like for the prequels would be between 1 and 2 2 and 3 3 and 4 outside the clone wars stuff like anakin as a teenager padame and anakin on there secret dates yoda talking to qui gon darth vader fighting the remaining jedis luke and leia growing up how han solos debt with jabba the hutt 1st started the beginning of darth vaders sith training and rehab
then for the original trilogy whould be between 4 and 5 5 and 6 like when darth vader knew luke is a jedi han solo and leia on dates how the rebels ended up on the hoth system luke and the gang going over the plans to save han solo from jabba the hutt the meetings between darth vader and lando before han chewy and leia arrived more of lukes training with yoda
earth 1 nowadays kinda reminds me of the star wars multiverse
there are a lot of good topics in this forums
Well, it is finally official (after all the wishful thinking and repeated rumours from the TFM & clickbaiters over the years)…

As Kathleen Kennedy steps down from Lucasfilm leadership to return to producing, Dave Filoni will lead the studio as President and Chief Creative Officer alongside Lynwen Brennan as Co-President.

'Lucasfilm announced today that after 14 years of leading the studio, President Kathleen Kennedy is stepping down from her role. Kennedy will return to full-time producing, including the studio’s upcoming feature films The Mandalorian and Grogu and Star Wars: Starfighter.
Dave Filoni, who worked closely with creator George Lucas to build the Lucasfilm animation department on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and helped launch Star Wars live-action series alongside Jon Favreau on The Mandalorian, will take on creative leadership of the company as President and Chief Creative Officer and Lynwen Brennan will serve as Co-President.
Their close collaboration and more than 30 years of combined senior executive experience will carry Lucasfilm into its next chapter of storytelling, with a strong foundation of creative vision and operational leadership guiding the studio forward.
“My love of storytelling was shaped by the films of Kathleen Kennedy and George Lucas. I never dreamed I would be privileged to learn the craft of filmmaking from both of them,” said Filoni. “From Rey to Grogu, Kathy has overseen the greatest expansion in Star Wars storytelling onscreen that we have ever seen. I am incredibly grateful to Kathy, George, Bob Iger and Alan Bergman for their trust and the opportunity to lead Lucasfilm in this new role, doing a job I truly love. May the Force be with you.”
“Lucasfilm has played such a meaningful part in my life," said Brennan. "It’s a community of inspiring storytellers with a rebel spirit like no other, and I am honored to join Dave Filoni in leading us forward. I have been so fortunate to learn from George Lucas, Kathy Kennedy and Alan Bergman and have unwavering faith in Dave’s creative vision for the next chapter in this storied studio’s legacy.”
Filoni joined Lucasfilm in 2005 and has played a pivotal role in shaping the creative direction of the Star Wars universe. Working closely with George Lucas, Filoni was instrumental in establishing the company’s animation studio and has since expanded the franchise into new and compelling territory. His storytelling contributions span acclaimed series such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and The Mandalorian, earning multiple Emmy Awards and nominations. Filoni currently serves as showrunner for Ahsoka, now in production for its second season, and is teaming with Jon Favreau on the feature film The Mandalorian and Grogu, which debuts in theaters May 22, 2026.
Brennan has been with Lucasfilm since 1999, beginning her tenure at Industrial Light & Magic where she rose through the ranks to become its leader in 2009. She was appointed General Manager of Lucasfilm in 2015 and President & General Manager of Lucasfilm Business in 2024. During her tenure, she has guided the company through transformative technological shifts with a clear strategic vision and a commitment to innovation, and her industry leadership has been recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Visual Effects Society and the honor of Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
Kennedy’s leadership legacy
Kennedy’s run as Lucasfilm president began in 2012 when Disney acquired the company.
“When we acquired Lucasfilm more than a decade ago, we knew we were bringing into the Disney family not only one of the most beloved and enduring storytelling universes ever created, but also a team of extraordinary talent led by a visionary filmmaker — someone who had been handpicked by George Lucas himself, no less,” said Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company. “We’re deeply grateful for Kathleen Kennedy’s leadership, her vision, and her stewardship of such an iconic studio and brand.”
“Kathleen Kennedy has been a tremendous force in the industry for 50 years, and it’s been our privilege to have her here at Disney leading Lucasfilm for nearly 14 of them,” added Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman. “She has steered Star Wars to incredible box office heights and brought a new generation of fans into the fold. We appreciate having her on board to produce our next couple of films, and the studio remains in extraordinarily capable hands with Dave Filoni, who’s a brilliant storyteller, and Lynwen Brennan, an avid innovator and business leader. They are deeply passionate and experienced executives who will continue to drive the studio and Star Wars forward in exciting new directions.”
“When George Lucas asked me to take over Lucasfilm upon his retirement, I couldn’t have imagined what lay ahead,” said Kennedy. “It has been a true privilege to spend more than a decade working alongside the extraordinary talent at Lucasfilm. Their creativity and dedication have been an inspiration, and I’m deeply proud of what we’ve accomplished together. I’m excited to continue developing films and television with both longtime collaborators and fresh voices who represent the future of storytelling.”
Since being named president of Lucasfilm, Kennedy has guided a new era of storytelling, expanding Star Wars and Indiana Jones while championing bold creative directions and exciting new voices. She oversaw the record-shattering release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first in a new trilogy of billion-dollar Skywalker Saga films, as well as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which also grossed over $1 billion worldwide and led to the creation of the Emmy-winning Andor series. She also led Lucasfilm’s foray into live-action Star Wars series, including three seasons of The Mandalorian as well as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka, and others, alongside popular animated shows such as Star Wars: The Bad Batch and Star Wars: Visions. Kennedy is currently producing the feature films The Mandalorian and Grogu and director Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter, set for theatrical release in 2026 and 2027, respectively.
As Kennedy transitions back to producing, broadening her portfolio with new collaborations across genres and platforms, she builds on a remarkable 50-year career as one of the most accomplished producers in film history. As co-founder of Amblin Entertainment with Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall, she helped bring to life iconic films including E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, Schindler’s List, The Sixth Sense, and Lincoln. Her 70+ films have earned 25 Academy Awards® among more than 120 nominations, along with billions at the global box office. She was honored with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ coveted Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award in 2018 and the Producers Guild of America’s Milestone Award in 2022.’

Personally, I’m more interested in hearing of Kathleen Kennedy’s role in the OOT restoration as part of the 50th anniversary…
Hopefully we’ll hear more of it soon - and what a legacy that is to leave - now she has decided to retire as Lucasfilm President (at 72 years old).
As well as ensuring that Andor happened: ‘Tony Gilroy Says There’d Be No Andor Without Kathleen Kennedy’ (Gizmodo article)

Will Dave have the ability to put projects into motion like greenlight movies, or is he in the same terrible position as Kennedy having to deal with the whims of Bob Iger? All that corporate planning and synergy hasn’t worked well for Star Wars when it comes to the screenplays. Or the characters. With few exceptions of course. Lucasfilm cancels far more projects than it makes.
I guess it all comes down to how well Mando and Grogu and Starfighter do at the movies. If they make money enough for more films to be made.
Nothing will change.
