I can share the resynced English audio but you will need to get the video file off of the UHD Bluray that was recently released. I’m not able to share that part.

I’ve been sick over the past week but now that I’m on the mend, I’m hoping to finish up some work on the German DVD commentary track and get some subtitles together for it. I have a friend who speaks German that might be able to help me with getting it translated properly. Otherwise, I will have to rely on machine translation and German to English dictionary lookups.

I was able to compare the 5.1 German upmix from the DVD with a basic pro-logic style upmix of the original stereo track on the UHD version and I can see why Deaf Crocodile didn’t include it. It’s not very faithful to the original presentation. The change that seemed the most obvious to me was how they handled the narration. In the original SR Stereo mix, the dialog stays mostly to the front and center but the narration fills all the speakers to make it sound like it’s not actually coming from anything on-screen. The 5.1 mix mostly got rid of this, limiting most dialog to the front center speaker and the narration to the front side speakers.

I tried doing a quick pro-logic style upmix of the English audio track but it didn’t work very well. There was so much bleeding into the rear channels due to a lack of stereo effects. A decent surround mix will take some work. I started trying to sync the original soundtrack to create an isolated score track but even that has problems. The music seems to run faster or slower on the different sources in various places and, as is often the case, it was edited very differently in the movie compared to what was on the soundtrack CD
