Thank you for the hard work g00b.

Just looking to make sure everything is in order. The size of the 1080p version of the 2-6 episode just released is much larger in comparison to all other 1080p episodes of your edit.

The size is not an issue. Just wondering if it is supposed to be that way.

I upgraded my software when I got my PC. Apparently files are just bigger now. I haven’t changed any settings 😅

If I ever work out how to get the files smaller, I’ll fix it!

To add to this above point ^ My usual process of running the output through Handbreak seems to be making the files bigger … The 4K version is also only a few MB bigger then the 1080p recolor… why that is, I don’t know…

Hi g00b, going through your changelogs has made me quite excited as I intend to show this to a first-time viewer but was hesitant due to the ‘kiddyness’ of the original, which in my opinion, hinders an exemplary and memorable story.

One question, in your YT video ‘Rebels Recut: Introduction Text Sequence’ (Oct 27, 2023 - watch?v=F7Y099HBdHg) the establishing exterior wide shot of Ezra’s Roost/LothalNet comm tower at 1:11-1:12 feels a bit too brief, was this extended in one of your later revisions?
The S01E01 - Spark of Rebellion v4.10 changelog seems to indicate this. Is this the case?

I’m quite interested to see what sort of opinion a first-time watcher has with this more mature cut cut aimed towards a more mature audience than the original show.

Very keen to hear any feedback you’ve got! First-time viewer feedback is incredibly valuable! 😄

That’s right! I’ve extended the length of the shot to give me more time to make a well timed wipe. This means the transition doesn’t feel as sudden.

I’m quite interested to see what sort of opinion a first-time watcher has with this more mature cut.

It’ll still feel a bit goofy and kiddish at times but those moments do diminish as the story progresses. But these moments are character driven in my edit (because Ezra is still quite young).

I got a chance to vet ‘S01e01 - Spark of Rebellion V4.12 4K Recolor’ the other night, which was only meant to be a quick skim through to check for playback compatibility issues on the OSMC player, but I ended up being drawn into watching the entire episode.

I was grinning like a fool the whole way through by how well thought-out the edits/cuts/additions were. 😄
(My last rewatch was Numeral Joker/Mecha Salesman’s cut in September, so it’s quite fresh in my memory)

When I have time to do so, I’ll be looking to make notes on each episode regarding any observations or issues that I find in that season and collate into a list to post.

I noticed some minor issues while watching ‘S01e01 - Spark of Rebellion V4.12 4K Recolor’.

Personal issue - 00:20:25 (h/m/s)
CUT: Steve Blum’s majestic rare hairless Wookie growl.wav gag 😦

(Although, your cut to Zeb punching the Stormtroopers after Kanan’s comment is quite good, and probably more in line with Zeb’s temperament)

Visual issue - 00:41:34-41, 00:41:51-58, and 00:42:12-18
End credit ‘concept art’: Goat eyes and phantom eyes

(I’m guessing here, but I assume the upscaler used on the source hallucinated the phantom eyes (helmet/visor glint hallucinated as eyes) (?) Doubled/stretched eyes caused by frame interpolation on the source and or hallucinated by the upscaler (?), and then the visual effect filters made it further apparent. I presume this visual issue will be present in the other episode end credits when characters are to their side or there is helmet/visor lighting glint)

(I’ll need to rewatch it again to timestamp and take notes of the other issues I noticed but can’t currently recall)

The phantom eyes aren’t actually the AI’s fault bahaha. I do see what you mean though, that’s occurred from all the filters I’ve put on top of the original screenshot to create the “concept art”.

I’ve gotten a few messages asking if the project is abandoned. I figured I’d post here to say it’s not at all, I’m just a busy man! Rest assured I’ll see this project through to the end!

I’m very close to a new release! I’ve got an episode out for review from some other editors and once I collect (and likely act on) their feedback. I’ll be rereleasing some more episodes 😃

Oh yeah! 😉

Once this project is all done I definitely want to do an Andor rewatch interweaving these episodes where they’re placed chronologically!

(The Force Awakens) Heirs of the Force | A Star Wars Legends Re-edit

SOFT RELEASED S03E02 - Imperial Supercommandos V4.1

There will be more changes coming to this episode! I’ve got some extra lines to add in and some more feedback. I just wanted to soft release this episode so I can collect more feedback and potentially upload the next episode in the ark (which is complete and contains my major collaborations with AcBagel and TWoM)

Downloads

  • 4K recolor: Needs upscaling
  • 1080p recolor: available
  • 1080p: Not available
  • Subtitles: available

Changes

  • Retimed Intro Text

  • Recolored Concord Dawn to match previous episode

  • Cut needless reminder that Mandalorian’s fight and war has destroyed Concord Dawn. This was all covered in the last episode, we don’t need it covered again now.

    • cut Rau exposition and overlayed the audio from another shot (“I don’t get the whole Mandalorian thing”) to cover the animation of Ezra talking from behind.
    • I then shorted Ezra talking and the previous shot to seamlessly blend them together.
  • Added Rau speaking Mando’a to call out to the Protectors

    • “Tion’suvar, ibic Rau” (Come in, this is Rau.)
  • Added Rau speaking Mando’a again to commemorate his fallen Protectors

    • “Nu kyr’adyc, shi taab’echaaj’la.” (The deceased, just march on.)"
  • Changed Sabines line from “Rau?” to “Rau! Ke dajuna skira!”

    • Now she is ordering Rau to take revenge for his fallen comrades. To me this feels much more Mandalorian.
  • Recolored the Moon’s surface to match previous episode.

  • Added more Lines to the Supercommandos, their animated to look like they’re talking but say nothing and I’ve made the say a lot more in the Darksaber of Mandalore episode later on.
This damage is fresh. - Supercommando 1
They must still be here - Supercommando 2
    Yes sir - both 1 + 2

    Don’t try anything droid - Supercommando 3

Gleeful laugh - Supercommando 1 Running after Ezra thinking you’re about to kill him.

    I’m on it - Supercommando 2
We’ve checked the base, no sign of anyone else. - Supercommando 3

Oya! Target practice! - Supercommando 1 Excited to see some shooting happen.

    He’s mine - Supercommando 2
No! I’m killing the Jedi - Supercommando 1

AHHHHHHH! - Supercommando 1, 2 + 3 - Stupidly loud noise has been funneled through your helmet

    You’re finished traitor. - Supercommando 1
Oya! - Supercommando 1 excited after being allowed to kill Ezra

  • Changed the final battle music to The Mandalorian Blockade from Star Wars the Old Republic to make it more climatic. It’s a Mandalorian battle song that’s just somehow perfectly timed for the end of this episode. It was too good not to change!

New Voiceline Creidts

  • Supercommando 1 is AcBagel
  • Supercommando 2 is Shoya
  • Supercommando 3 is me!

I watched your soft release of this episode because I was very curious to hear the Mandolorian language for the first time. It worked almost entirely very well, including the new music at the end. However, there are some little things here I noticed.

  • Sabine telling Rau to plot revenge was a bit premature before she had full knowledge or even looked at the wreckage. She was only wildly guessing at that point. Also, later in the episode she tells Rau that she is not after revenge, only her friends. The context is different, but still somewhat of a contradiction.

  • A small nitpick normal to the episode, but why does Sabine need to tell Ezra to run from the Mandolorians (“Ezra run!”)? Thank you captain obvious!

  • Having both Supercommandos say “yes sir” consecutively sounded awkward and redundant. Both should make that statement at the same time as would be the standard in media portrayals of soldiers responding to a commanding officer.

  • At around the 18:56 mark, the Mando’a subtitle “let’s hunt” blitzes by too quickly. I had to rewind and pause to catch what was said. I think this happened once before with another line that I missed. This is a nice menacing line that you want the audience to see easily the first time.

I hope this helps, even if it is just a tiny bit.

Thanks for all the feedback! I appreciate it 😃

While it’s premature for the reveal to the audience, this isn’t actually premature for Sabine. From where she stands she can hear Rau giving a Mandalorian prayer AND see smoke and destruction in the distance. She also has the knowledge of the Protectors stopping communication.

The statement of saying SHE’S not out for revenge actually supports her telling Rau to get revenge. It makes sense in the context why she’d say that to him.

I did catch both these things and took the time to work out if they’re actually problems. Thanks for the feedback here though, I’ll have to see if there’s anything I can do to help these moments read a bit better.

  • A small nitpick normal to the episode, but why does Sabine need to tell Ezra to run from the Mandolorians (“Ezra run!”)? Thank you captain obvious!

After watching Ezra do so much dumb stuff I think it’s justified 😂 BUT that’s not Ezra after the time-skip in my edit so I’ll do something to address this. It just made it through the cracks hahaha thanks for pointing it out!!!

  • Having both Supercommandos say “yes sir” consecutively sounded awkward and redundant. Both should make that statement at the same time as would be the standard in media portrayals of soldiers responding to a commanding officer.

This is how I originally dubbed these lines HOWEVER I decided to sync these lines to the head movements of the Supercommandos instead. Maybe I could use a different line to solve both issues.

These suppercommandos were almost entirely silent in the original episode but also had their heads moving and animated like they would talk??? It’s super weird so I’m trying to fix that hahaha.

  • At around the 18:56 mark, the Mando’a subtitle “let’s hunt” blitzes by too quickly. I had to rewind and pause to catch what was said. I think this happened once before with another line that I missed. This is a nice menacing line that you want the audience to see easily the first time.

I am aware of this, I might need to play around with it some more but there might not be enough time because of the other more important lines…

I hope this helps, even if it is just a tiny bit.

All feedback ALWAYS HELPS! Even if I don’t act on it. Thank you for taking the time and posting it!
