Here’s another little thing to file under ‘rumour’ for the time being -

I simply don’t believe it. KK at Lucasfilm and Alex Kurtzman at Star Trek have been fired twice a week in fans delusions for years.
Besides i’m not convinced Filoni taking over would be a good thing. Mandoverse is one of the things I despise about Disney Star Wars the most. For all those people who said he was George’s apprentice, hilarious. a cartoon showrunner. A man who can’t do a darn thing in Star Wars live action. If anything, Ahsoka proves he should be nowhere near live action Star Wars, and talented in one area animation. I also think the cartoons and live action should not be in the same canon level, but that is a different subject altogether. I still think television canon and film canon should be separate like it was before the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney, and EU should be separate as well. The all one canon thing is just nonsense, and in its very style trying to Marvelize Star Wars. George was not beholden to books and comics, and Disney Star Wars isn’t either it’s all pretend. Marketing speak. Just like EU was just tie in fiction to make George money.
I think Tony Gilroy should get the job running Lucasfilm not Dave. But It is not my decision.
In other worlds I would gladly take a search for Ben Solo or a Rey movie before I will endure another season of Favreau/Filoni nonsense. They’ve diluted Star Wars and all but destroyed it. The first two seasons of Mando and the first season being the most quality is gone, and all that is left is the Grogu gimmick that was old years ago. The Book of Boba Fett is the worst Star Wars anything I’ve ever watched. Those Luke cameos were just awful. I would take a dozen films like The Last Jedi, or any of JJ Abrams Star Wars nonsense before ever wasting 2 more seconds on Mandoverse. They want to continue this for years and culminate in Dave Filoni’s movie. You have to be kidding me. Well I’m out.
Maybe Starfighter will end up a decent distraction or pleasingly decent, I hope.
My opinion is like the Disney Star Wars shows and films you like, comics, games and novels. and discard the rest. I think kids on the internet call that headcanon. A concept I usually eschew. I believe in the artist as creator and sole person who writes for their own secondary universe, and set up its own internal rules and put them into motion. A George Lucas if you will is the only real canon. A JRR Tolkien, or Gene Roddenberry. But then I dislike the Star Wars prequel movies and how they don’t fit the OT. Plus Star Wars as a concept can be done in so many new, and interesting ways only if you throw canon out, see Star Wars Visions or any of the now non canon Legends material George did not like. which contradicts what I said about the canon being important. Maybe I just have to unlearn the domination of the author and the auteur theory.
On balance I guess Filoni may be right. they are all just tales around a campfire and canon does not matter. I don’t know if I would say continuity is for weenies like he does, but he may be right to not treat anything in a fictional world as gospel as the fans do. Who get wrapped up in the stories and act like Luke is a real person.
