There is no 35mm for ROTK extended and the new reissue will likely be DCP and digital. We will never see prints of these again not sent to thousands of theaters. I never thought I was experiencing a once in a lifetime event when I saw Fellowship on 35mm, but it truly was. You can’t get that anymore.
Its only in less than two decades they abandoned exhibition here. But it feels like it’s been a hundred years. I can’t remember the last movie I saw on film Star Trek Into Darkness, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? I think it all went away in 2012-2013 and they started only doing digital.
