  • Slightly color corrected Jabba, correct number of fingers

I happened to have a read-through of your cut-lists out of curiosity, and I learned something new.

Okay, hands up all those who never noticed that the number of Jabba’s fingers has been tampered with over the years? - myself included!

I liked your Jabba’s recolouring in Episode I, but as far as I remember, in Episode VI he had four fingers on each hand (one of which was a thumb) – if I’m not mistaken. 😀

So just to clarify, I ended up having a closer look at this, and when Jabba was first revealed to audiences in 1983 during the Episode VI (Return Of The Jedi) movie, he only had THREE fingers on each hand (or two plus a ‘thumb’ if you will), compared to being given an additional finger on each hand in every subsequent CGI rendition that followed since then -

Three-fingered 1983 Return Of The Jedi (original) Jabba -

Four-fingered 1997 A New Hope ‘Special Edition’ Jabba -

Four-fingered 1999 The Phantom Menace Jabba -

Four-fingered 2004 A New Hope ‘Special Edition’ DVD release Jabba -

Personally, I’d have preferred that George had matched the look of the original 1983 Jabba in the subsequent versions, seeing as he decided to give him just THREE digits on each hand in the first place. It’s a minor detail in the scheme of things. but yet another mismatch from what was originally established in the Original Trilogy.

Sorry to hijack your thread somewhat Manx30. Although I’m one of those who definitely feels that the additional ‘Jabba’ scene should never have been included in A New Hope in the first place, I certainly applaud all your efforts in putting together your own preferred ‘Star Wars saga’.
