The new Jabba is really impressive! It looks as if he was a stop motion puppet in the 1970s.
I’d love to know how you did it. I think with some tweaks, I’d like to put it in my own custom special editions. Only I’m using the 4Ks as the base, so I’d like to know how to recreate the effect

Years ago I acquired a cgi Jabba off of a site called cgtrader. I had an idea of doing this forever, but when I was in grad school I got a student rate for Maya, so I could actually move him around, learn about rigging and lighting and so forth. After that was done I put the digital character against a blue screen background and inserted him into the shot from the blu-ray.
It was a lot of work. I’d have to look for the cgi file, I could probably send it to you. I might be able to just send you the blue screen footage, that might make your life easier (though it might need to be upscaled, I’m not sure).
