Information which he got from the leaks, not from sources at Lucasfilm, btw.

Proof?

Why don’t you contact him directly and say that?

Should I message him with these screenshots and have him contact you?

Again, claims actually require proof for people to believe you.

There is a thread for the leaks and a thread for the rerelease. Leave leak discussion in that thread and this one to celebrate.

Report me, ban me, block me 😃

I can make new accounts here.

I have endless VPNs and IP addresses I could use to get around any bans.

Fairly simple for a website like this that seems to have been cobbled together with 2003 technology and security lol

Not interested in girls, but thanks for your concern.

I could say the same about 90% of people here lol

Not interested in girls,

I’m beginning to believe they are more likely not interested in you.

That’s probably true, since I’m not attracted to women.

Or are you not filling in the blanks here?

Anyway, back to the actuall topic of this thread.

I hope they release the movies in a box set and not separately like the UHDs. Yes, I know they had a “Star Wars Saga” box set, but that had all nine films…

I’d like a box set, but with each film in its own case with original theatrical one sheet art, alongside individual steelbooks.

Don’t even get me started on which poster they should use. Original theatrical or new posters for each film? I
d be interested to see what they go with…

I don’t care whether it’s a trilogy or individual SKUs, so long as it’s on my shelf by Christmas 2027!

Some really attractive box art would be nice but since it hasn’t been a thing for decades I won’t hold my breath. Just remember the GOUT bonus discs with the photoshopped art replicating vintage posters! That’s a crime against humanity, errr I mean good taste.

Just traditional bonus features in high quality would be good. Particularly things that had film masters but were usually video sources like the Making of Star Wars or the ROTJ docs. We’ve seen a few deleted shots from the leaks looking better than ever, so let’s just go with hoping those scenes are all on disc. [I don’t want to bother Bobson Dugnutt but] I’d love an updated Darklighter Cut once these discs are out.

Is it too much to hope for HQ Holiday Special? Would it go with SW or ESB?

The home video aspect is really interesting to me. We still don’t know WHO this restoration company is, and why they’re using a codename. I kinda/sorta WANT it to be Criterion or Criterion affiliated (Disney has worked with Criterion before. Not frequently, BUT THEY HAVE.) And the restoration crews that work on Criterion stuff are VERY FRIENDLY with the Disney folks who do film restoration as well. That’s all a bunch of conjecture and what-if but I also think it would be really, really cool if Disney decided to license an original theatrical trilogy home video release to Criterion.

I know it’s much, much more likely they do it on their own (and they can do it on their own, clearly) but it would be so cool if this was a boutique release, by probably the most well-known/well-respected boutique label. I think it’s a no-brainer it’ll be on Disney+ no matter what (they’ve been sitting on those Vintage labels there forever, LOL)

Either way, I gotta imagine it’s going to be a trilogy set, not a saga set. Especially if they’re trilogy theatrical releases, which I think they almost gotta be.

If there’s any Disney film(s) that should get a boutique style release or straight up handled by a boutique label, it’s Star Wars (and Fantasia, but that’s a topic for a different day). I’m confident in Disney’s team, though.

I would MUCH prefer Disney encoded the disc than Criterion 😅

Even better would be FIM (fidelity in motion)…

I’ve heard both companies have gotten notably better with their UHD encodes, though.

Actually, wait, isn’t Sony the company in charge of doing the encoding/pressing of the discs now at Disney? I thought they’d taken that aspect over a little bit ago.

It’s internal Disney/Lucasfilm

Bill Hunt already confirmed that, and it’s pretty clear since no such company exists with that name, and Disney hasn’t been outsourcing their remastering in recent years, like with The Sound of Music.

Why the hell would anyone want that? 😂

It’s not even so bad it’s good, it’s just bad and unwatchable.

It’s on YouTube for free for the few people who actually want to watch it sober.

Yes, when Criterion uses FIM, as they did with Eyes Wide Shut.

Sony now distributes Disney physical media via SDS, yes. But I don’t think that implies Sony is encoding the video or even authoring the discs.

None of the studios manufacture their own discs…

Thing about Disney is they released S-tier restorations of Snow White and Cinderella but there’s no documentary or really any proof at all except the work on screen. So they are not known for tooting their own horn. But after decades of Special Edition glazing (as the kids say) can anyone undo the perception that less isn’t more?

As far as Criterion goes while they are known for good bonus features, apparently it’s hit or miss with encoding? But I can’t imagine Disney or Lucasfilm farming out a release of this caliber, especially when it comes to creative control.
