Info Wanted: Excalibur - differing scenes & TV and R-rated versions...

I remember seeing (either on tv or from vcr tapes that a few friends had) that the film excalibur has different scenes, scenes that are not of the dvd version but on what I think is some tv version, I remember such a scene as bieng at the brgining with merlin giving a voice over. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? If so I would maybe like to make a release of it assuming there isn’t one already. Anyone’s thoughts or ideas?

I know there's a not-released-on-DVD PG-rated cut, but that's all I know.

Alternate Versions for Excalibur (1981)
The movie was originally put into theatrical release simultaneously in both its PG and R-rated formats in the USA. Most home video versions are the R-rated one, but TV and movie channels show the PG version. The R-rated version features a few more minutes of graphic sex and violence.

ok, then assuming that the dvd I own (the official one) is the R version, I need to get my hands of the pg-13 tv version. I believe there's at least 5-10 minutes of extra scenes in it. And then possible join the two as best as possible,

It would be nice to see a fan edit of it done where it makes the film PG or even PG-13.

It looks like the PG cut will finally be coming out on the Arrow release.
