Hi Kreep,
Good work. But I wanted to mention something. The 4K version is oversaturated and the shadow detail is bad, yes. But the details are better than any Blu-Ray version, including the one you created. So what should be done is altering and improving the 4K version, and not using the Blu-Ray version and improving it. See if you can fix the 4K version with improved and less saturated colors and better shadow detail. Perhaps that could be another project for you š. Just a thought.
The combination of the oversaturation, blown-out highlights, crushed blacks, poor colour grading, and lossy video bitrate make the 4K stream quite difficult to use as a primary source. If using the 4K alone, there is not much that can be done to recover what isnāt there in regards to crushed blacks and blown-out highlights.
Buuut, weāve gotten our hands on quite a better 4K source, so weāre currently in the process of bringing out a V2 of this project š My brotherās skills at combining elements from multiple video sources has improved drastically since V1 also, so this new release will use a lot more of the 4K transfer. So far, weāre about 15min into the movie, averaging about 1 hour in real life per minute of runtime, so itās a lonnng process. So far, itās looking great.
