I personally thought they were going somewhere with the "No Disintegrations" thing. I thought he was going to somehow disintegrate Mace in Ep III right in front of Anakin or something. That would've ruled. I also would have been a nice little touch to have Fett be one of the few people who knew who Vader was. Fett is just one of those people with badass potential that got lost.
