Hi, my name is David and I live in Bordeaux (France). I studied art history and have been a film lover since I was very young.
I am amazed by the work accomplished here, the obsession with detail and the constant concern to respect and preserve the original film material.
Long live this project and the community it brings together.

Hello everyone,

I’m a longtime Star Wars fan who has seen every movie upon its original release in theatres (so you can guess at my age). I recently, with little experience, decided to create my own home media server (using Jellyfin) and convert my large BluRay & DVD collection to streaming files… it’s been an adventure. Upon doing so, when I got to the Star Wars content (my 6-film 2011 BluRay set), I got to thinking about the prior versions of the original trilogy I’d seen over the years, wondered if anyone had those online, then stumbled into fanedits. There I had some lively PM’s with others, and was directed here!

My “Star Wars” renaissance occured between 2009 and 2015 when I read many hundreds of comics and 40+ novels set in the “Clone Wars” era,and fell in love with the universe all over again.

At present, I’m trying to create my ‘ideal’ Star Wars media collection (movies and tv series specifically) using a combination of original releases, and fanedits, for my home server. I’ve only been aware of fanedits for about a month now, so I haven’t seen many of them yet, and am on a journey of ‘discovery’ with fanedits.

Hello! My name is T.O. and I’m an aspiring preservationist from brazil.
I’m currently only surface-level seeding and sharing LOTR files, which is pretty easy. Hoping to getting into the hobbit and harry potter re-edit communities to help out with preservation. Any hints and help would be very much appreciated.
Thank you so much in advance!

Hi everyone, I was introduced to Star Wars as a kid by my older siblings, but fantasy took over my interest until while in my teens, a friend reintroduced me to Star Wars through the Expanded Universe books. It was during the build up to the release of TFA in 2015 that I first learned about the ‘Despecialized’ editions of the movies, and watched those as part of my rewatch at that time. I wouldn’t say I’m a purest, but as I’ve built a physical collection of movies I love, I’ve come to appreciate the look of older movies, especially when they’re restored to match the way they were originally shown. I’ve long heard and read about the 4k restorations of the OT, and it’s finally led me to here, seeking out an actual version of them that I can watch. I’ve finally have a home theater I’m happy with, so it seemed the perfect time to watch some of my favorite movies presented in their original form, shown at the best quality possible.

Jed here. A friend LOVES the LOTR trilogy and I was googling and found someone had somehow created a 35mm transfer on here, so I signed up to PM them (I need to read the FAQ on how to do it properly).
Thanks.
