UPDATE (17/11/2025): I decided to do a 1080p version as well since I’m pretty sure many of you really wanted that version too in case you don’t have a 4K HDR monitor/TV. This version has the entire film being regraded to match the pre-2002 master, used on the LD, and the first two American DVD releases. I’m also using the original 1080p Thunderbean scan for the logos too.
To be fair, the final regrade is really spot on for me. Selick stated in the 1994 commentary that he wanted Halloween Town to be dull as possible, and it really seem to look exactly what he intended! Especially on how during “Jack’s Lament”, it felt really black and white! 😁 Though I have no idea why Disney to make Halloween Town more colourful on the 3D re-release and Blu-ray. My guess is that they wanted to make this more suited for a now Disney-branded film so that children can get thrilled into Halloween Town.
