Waiting on a big fat update myself! I already know the Deathly Hallows Ultimate Edition is gonna rock: 3-3½ hours of EPIC!

I won’t start work on DH before the summer break. Same goes for Game of Thrones final.

Very soon releasing a new clip for Deathly Hallows Revisited, trying to save the most important deleted scene and second most important character payoff for the entire series (that was wrongfully deleted and neglected 7 films of buildup for what could’ve been a huge, emotional impact to start the last film on). I am of course speaking of the deleted scene of Harry and Dudley.

Now - why not reinstate the deleted scene and call it quits, right?

Well, first of:

• The deleted scene is only released in 720p, with certain parts looking like 360p and 480p at best. Some people online claim to have it in 1080p and 4K, but these are harsh, badly compressed upscales at best. The fact is that for some insane reason, the most important deleted scene in all of Harry Potter, is the only scene released from archive footage in the utterly worst condition of all the deleted scenes across the eight films. Coincidence? Probably. Annoying? Heck yes.
• The actor’s faces look like they belong in a horror wax museum in 60% of medium and close shots.
• The compression artifacts on the backgrounds are horrible, lacking both detail and the cleanliness of a 1080p/4K rendition.

So, over several months, I’ve worked on many of these issues. The solutions?

• High fidelity upscale, used for background plates mostly, removing the pixelation and high noise, but preserving the little detail there is.

• High quality deepfake, layers on layers, to get Daniel Radcliffe and Harry Melling (Dudley) to look like Daniel Radcliffe and Harry Melling in High Definition format. Yes, you read that right. The details in the deleted scenes are so bad that the actors look utterly horrible in any format beyond 480p - so I had to deepfake their own face, onto their own face.

• Color Grade to balance out horrible skin tones and/or background/foreground mismatch.

• A new soundmix (that is not finished), to balance out and fix the mix of bad foley and on-stage recorded noise.

• A new musical score for the opening of the film, to attune the emotions to the scene now included.

I wish i could say yes, but unfortunately Deathly Hallows will not be due this year - unless December give me lots of free time and encouragement.

The wait will be more than worth it though! Can you at least tell us what we can expect in DH? 😃
