Strange as it is, the film crew must have known what they were doing when shooting/animating that scene. I would say that Palpatine and co. simply didn't care about Vader's well-being. After all, Palpatine is only interested in Vader (and anyone for that matter) only for his use to him, not for Vader's own well being.
