The 'binary sunset' sequence is a crowning moment of cinema and is a perfect synergy of performance, cinematography, direction and scoring. The ENTIRE message, IMHO, of the OT is told in that one short sequence- with, I'll add, only approximately ONE 'special effect'.

That scene was added on, thematically, in ESB with the 'I am your father' exchange (in which we learn that hope can sometimes turn to despair which in turn can create a direction in our lives) and then in ROTJ with the 'I am a Jedi' sequence and the Emperor scenes which follow (bringing us full circle and showing that mature decisions and the right direction can lead us down the correct path even at the very end).

*sigh* Escapist fun yes. Lessons to be learned for a young impressionable mind? Absolutely. I'll refrain from any comments on the PT in this thread.
