There’s no reason for a nicer-looking version when the SE exists. If we want to keep any fixes while getting rid of what we don’t like, well, that’s what places like this are for.

Historical preservation would be my priority. That’s why it kinda bothers me that they’re apparently doing a 7.1 remix with alternate takes and whatnot. If that was only being done for the latest SE I wouldn’t care, but if that’s what would be heard in a dcp of the “unaltered” version then we’re getting into revisionism territory.

They’re fully restoring both the stereo and mono mixes. And maybe the 70mm mix too. The 7.1 DTS will probably be for theatres, as there is no evidence that it will be included on home media. What we do know is that they aren’t just remixing from the stems but going back to the raw elements…
