One thing that would have worked well, IMO is this: Since Jango went out like a bitch at the hands of Mace, it would have been the ultimate redemption for Boba to be the one who killed Mace. Maybe he could have helped Anakin or something. Talk about redemtion for his father! Lucas would have liked that, as it reasonates with his main story.

And now, since Lucas chose not to do that, he could generate a similar effect by inserting that scene he was talking about of Boba in the ROTJ DVD commentary of Boba crawling out of the sarlaac pit in ROTJ. That way, it would look like he too went out like a bitch, but then climbs out all badass and stuff.
