I did vastly prefer the previous director’s edition of Star Trek the motion picture for instance because they tried to make it match what was done in 1979. The 4K was much more like a Lucasian affair. I may enjoy it as an alternate cut but I would hate if they had decided to not allow the 1979 version. But in an expensive boxed set they allowed you to have not one and not two, but three cuts of the movie including the special longer tv cut in widescreen with the matte for the Kirk finally finished. My biggest complaint was not the DNR applied although there was some on both the theatrical and directors cut, no it was the original stereo mix only being available on the special longer version.
Out of all 6 TOS Star Trek films none of them had original stereo mixes except for the TMP. In that set.
I’d would really dislike to get Star Wars 1977 and for it to have a new Atmos mix and to be missing the 35mm Stereo, the 70mm or Mono mixes. They likely wouldn’t be that stupid would they if they wanted to do a new 4K of the original?
As for Blade Runner I luckily was able to buy the mediabook blu-ray of all 5 cuts at auction. before the prices went way up.
