The first movies I wanted to test on my new TV and audio setup were The Lord of the Rings. I picked up the UHD Extended Edition set, and while I was excited at first, I was immediately disappointed by the heavy use of DNR in some scenes.

On the positive side, I really do love the added detail, the HDR, and the improved audio mix—they make the films feel fresh again. But unfortunately, the overuse of DNR takes me out of the experience and ruins a lot of the natural texture that I was hoping to see.

That’s why I would love to get my hands on these restorations. I sent a PM about a week ago and I’m still patiently waiting for a response. In the meantime, I just want to say thanks for all the work being put into this project—it’s very much needed and deeply appreciated.
