Hi Smudger!

I finally got around to watching your Episode IX and I have some thoughts I wanted to share.

Overall I think the technical aspects of the transitions between both the original episodes and scenes work great (I made some notes during the movie, I will list them later on). Congrats on a job well done! I wanted to start this off on a positive note, because I do think this is quite an achievement to be proud of. The story is quite cohesive when put together. I hadn’t watched the Ahsoka Alone arc since it had come out, so it was nice to see how that blended in with the Siege of Mandalore arc.

However I must say this wasn’t my cup of tea, and by no fault of your own. The Ahsoka Alone arc is just so weak, even in this trimmed form, that I found it ruined what came after. I made it to Maul’s capture and had to quit for now. I just couldn’t enjoy it like I did on my regular watches of those episodes. Because the first arc is so unfocused (things just… happen), the Siege felt very random and rushed as well. I truely love the ideas you put into this, from starting with the TOTJ episode to showing Ahsoka seeing the light in the Jedi Order again, adding Padmé’s funeral and Barris’s recruitment (which I haven’t gotten to yet). It all works on paper, but watching it I simply wasn’t enjoying it anymore. I do want to check out the later half of the movie at some point, because I think the added material can really make that shine brighter, but for now it’s sadly a DNF.

Below are the notes I made (there are in fact only 3, over the course of 1:36:00 I watched. Impressive!):
00:00:00 - LucasFilm logo is barely visible, is it meant to show up this early?
00:00:57 - “to” missing, “In a desperate bid TO defend their ranks,…”
00:05:05 - Transition is a bit jarring (might be in the source material though?)
